God has to exist.
The universe either came from something, or nothing. no one believes it came from nothing.
Was that something personal or impersonal? If it were impersonal, how did we get persons?

The universe either came from something, or from nothing, and since it's less popular to believe that it came from nothing, that must be wrong, so I win.
Brilliant.
Scientifically, it's not feasible to say that the universe has always existed- at least, not in its current form. Olber's Paradox and all.
That being said, Dawson really hasn't thought things through.
If it were impersonal, how did we get persons?
I'm dumbfounded by the sheer stupidity of that argument.
Dogs either came from something, or nothing. no one believes they came from nothing
was that something God or Dgo? Dgo isn't a word, so it must be God
If a presence dictates a creator, who made God?
If God just exists, why can't the universe be the same?
"Was that something personal or impersonal? If it were impersonal, how did we get persons?"
I love it when they try to sound deep and intelligent and wind up saying something incredibly stupid.

Wrong and irrelevant. You have yet to disprove that possibility.

Complete non-sequitur. By your own logic, if it was personal, how did we get objects?
I believe that, if it can't have always existed, that the universe came from nothing. Anyway, God or giant pus ball, who cares?
"If it were impersonal, how did we get persons?"
Aggggghhhhh!!!!!
Okay fundtard, we can play that game; if the universe is "intelligently designed, why are you an idiot?
Technically speaking, it comes. God, actually, made it from nothing. And anyway, where does God come from?, exactly, FROM NOTHING.
The universe came from something else somewhere else, if the Humongous Space Kablooie theory holds.
What, where, and how, may never be known.
Following your logic, who created God?, moreover, who created that who created God?. And I can go AD FINITUM.
Time itself is an element of the universe' time-space fabric. Time itself started at the big-bang. There was no time before the big-bang, just as there cannot be any point on earth north of the north pole.
"Creation" is an action which needs necessarily flow of time. Cause and Effect. When there is no time flowing, the term "creation" becomes meaningless.
So there is the very real possibility that the universe itself "just exists". No creator, no god who snips his fingers is necessary anymore. But the human mind is on its very foundation programmed to see everything in flow of time. Therefore it is so infinitely difficult to imagine that there is no time before the big-bang. So the human mind invented a "creator" at the beginning of the universe. But this "creator" itself is nothing but an auxiliary "explanation". This idea of "god" serves to makes us more comfortable. But the truth of something is not determined whether the idea feels comfortable or not.

To quote Nietzsche, God is dead.
Nothing personal, strictly business.

“God has to exist.”
Good luck with that.
“The universe either came from something, or nothing.”
True enough.
Of course, you know that once you determine God is necessary, you’ll have to ask if God came from something or nothing.
“ no one believes it came from nothing.”
Which has zero bearing on whether or not it’s the truth.
“Was that something personal or impersonal?”
Or several personals?
"If it were impersonal, how did we get persons?”
Argument from incredulity? So disappointing. NOt surprising, but disappointing.
Confused?
