[Are people animals?]
From a Christian perspective: Yes, if your not born again, if your do not belong to God, then you are not any better then the animals. But if your born again and a new creation in Christ, then you have taken on a new divine nature and you are raised up above the animals.

No, biologically speaking, all humans are animals. we are just the smarter ones.
JohnR7 strikes again, but he's holding back this time.
So if you're not born again and you're therefore already no better than the animals, what's it matter if you're gay or whatever? I always hear that being gay turns people into animals, but if you're already one, what's the harm?
If you've got a human body, you're an animal. You might be a super-special, double-plus-good animal with a pure spirit on top (and sprinkles!), but you're still an animal.
"From a Christian perspective: Yes, if your not born again, if your do not belong to God, then you are not any better then the animals."
But, of course, if you believe the Xian fairy tale your DNA changes and you become God's superspecies, Christian Erectus, unrelated to any other lifeform but God.
No, sorry, Christians still retain the characterisics of the Animal Kingdom, they eat, sleep, reproduce, etc.
'From a Christian perspective'
No, not from a Christian perspective. As a Christian, it's definitely not my perspective. It's just your stupid, warped perspective. So shut up.
Only humans have souls. So animals have no souls. Then what are they if they can move without a soul? They must be really fine tuned machines that you can program (train) to a certain extent.
Since they are machines, they have no feelings. Let's cut them open while alive and do some experiments to see how the body works.
What? Is it cruel? No it isn't. They are just machines.
Hey, wait a second. There are not two types of people, Christian or non-Christian. Should I remind you that most of the commodities you use now have their antecedent in Rome or Greece, LONG BEFORE CHRISTIANITY EXISTED?. Who is the animal now, dear friend?
This is pretty non-offensive, considering that it's a JohnR7 post. I fear, however, that it is merely the eye of the storm, and that a new gust of monolithic idiocy is on the horizon.
Its "you're", NOT "your", you imbecile. It is short for "you are"... get it? How can god love an idiot like you?
Now that I think about it, god seems to love idiots almost exclusively. Oh well...

Sorry, does not qualify as darndest. This is standard evangelical theology.
It may be standard evangelical theology, but it's still fucking batshit insane.
At least it's standard theology instead of his own "creative" interpretation, but the big problem is that he (and lots of other fundies) just can't seem to fully wrap their heads around the idea of metaphor.
At least they realize that they aren't physically "born again"; so why do so many of them think that their faith somehow removes them from the animal kingdom? They're still biological organisms with all the same functions as the animals -- to which they are still genetically related!

Okay, that's all well and good, but if I do get born again in Christ, I want to know: How many orcs do I have to kill before He grants me the ability to raise the dead?
Are people animals?
From a Christian perspective: Yes...
From a reality perspective: Yes.
...if your not born again...

...if your do not belong to God...
Sorry. God doesn't exist, so no one "belongs to" God. Thinking you belong to God doesn't mean that you're not an animal. (Although some people might suspect it can make you a slime mold in some cases.)
...then you are not any better then the animals.
All humans are animals. No humans are "better than" any other animals. Smarter, maybe, but certainly not "better."
But if your born again...
An impossible proposition, to be sure.
...and a new creation in Christ...
Thinking that you're a "new creation in Christ" doesn't mean you are one.
...then you have taken on a new divine nature...
Sorry, Mr. Arrogant, but no one has a "divine nature." Deities do not exist.
...and you are raised up above the animals.
Sorry, that's impossible. Even if God existed, he would not be "above" or "better than" us animals in any moral sense.
Keep in mind, Johnny Boy, there is nothing wrong or degrading about being an animal. You merely think that being an "animal" diminishes your worth for the same reason that a racist thinks that being black diminishes your worth; you have an arrogant need to insist that you are somehow "better" than everyone else, and declare certain inborn traits to be "wrong" in an attempt to justify it.
Although this recent post was certainly stupid, it wasn't quite as insane as your usual posts, JohnR7. That's good. It means the meds are working. Give them a few more months and you might even be able to pass yourself off as moderately educated if you keep your mouth shut.
Confused?
