I want to know what could possibly be harmful about slavery in the first place. Slavery is not bad it is the abuse of that power (or any power) that is bad. Alcohol is not bad, guns are not bad, but people are.

Alcohol and guns are objects. Objects only cause harm if acted upon by a malevolent force.
Slavery is a violation; it is an offence to what one would call a soul. It is an affront to humanity to treat a fellow human, an equal, as a piece of expendable trash to use and throw away.
Someone unable to see this is someone who sees entire groups and/or races of people as untermensch and that is absolutely repulsive.
Tell ya what, if it's not so bad, how about you come on over to my place so I can own you?
Just like my car, I'll have to lock you up so you don't get away. And I might feed you once a week. But at least I'll take you to the doctor every three months!

Er- Could someone explain wage slavery to me? I tried to wiki it, but the entry is pretty useless. (Or, having just finished out a semester, I have randomly lost my ability to make sense of simple English. This is possible too.)
I think what daivd_x is getting at is more reasonable than most others fundies here. Slavery isn't such a horrible institution when it's used as a punishment or in return fo something (indentured servitude). Slavery on the basis of race or herditiy, though, is quite bad.
Wage slavery is where a person is not paid enough to afford all the things they are required to own to keep their job, usualy corporate housing. Thus, they can't leave their job until they pay of their debt to the company they work for.
Alcohol is, by its makeup, a mild poison. Poisons are bad for you, regardless of whether you enjoy their effects.
Slavery, too, is a poison - a social one.
By condoning and advocating slavery, you're condoning the dehumanization of other people.
Tell ya what, david_x... how about you volunteer for slavery first? We'll see how you feel about it after a few years.
If it's not so bad, go be someone's slave.
Oh, wait, you were planning to be the owner, weren't you?
The owning of another person is tantamount to claiming their soul as your own. And giving yourself priority in the eyes of God. Interesting that this is coming from a conservative.
Then again, not altogether surprising.
Try being sold as, and living, as an unwilling slave for a few years, forced to work by the constant threat of punishment, pain and death held over your head by an indifferent master.
Then tell us how harmless it is.
There's an old rugged cross...just burnin' on the lawn.
If slavery is not bad, then why don't you become one?
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
