Homosexuallity is the same as polygamy.
So, can I follow polygamy, since we all know that you can be a homosexual.

Well they aren't the same, but I really couldn't care less what you and your mate(s) do with each other.
Is this really so hard for fundies to understand? I don't just not care what gays do with their own lives, I also don't care what any consenting adult or groups of consenting adults do in the privacy of their own bedrooms.
Is it really so difficult to just mind your own fucking business?
Wrong! Unlike homosexuality, polygamy is endorsed by your bible. Probably irrelevant, though; BigChrisfilm would be lucky to get one woman to marry him; I don't think there are two or more who'd have him.
Maybe it's because of my LDS upbringing, but I don't see polygamy as all that big of a deal. Issues certainly come when groups like the FLDS are messing up young girls and banishing teenage boys, but consenting adults being polygamous? Not really seeing the big issue as long as there's no abuse.
A lot of the problem has to do with taxes, insurance benefits, etc. People usually want legal marriage for legal reasons, and no one wants to pay for some jackass's 6 wives and umpteen children.
According to some Christians and interestingly, more than a few parts of the Bible, yes. Yes, you can be polygamous.
And frankly as far as I care? If you can convince more than 1 woman to marry you, go for it. But I bet you're not married. I am. Have been for a long time. Trust me on this one Big Chris...one wife is enough. If she's a good and loving wife, you will never need another one, and if she isn't, well, then, you've already proven you suck at choosing women. Why risk it a second time?
RichardT, that's a highly biased take. The article you link to makes many rather broad leaps of logic by drawing conclusions about the Biblical text that are frankly very subjective. It makes many claims that the "sin" being condemned is the sin of polygamy, but nowhere in the Biblical text does it state this explicitly, the conclusion must be inferred.
Besides, you are overlooking the Law of Levirate outlined in Deut 25:5-10 which requires a dead man's brother to marry his childless widow and father a son who would assume the dead man's name and redeem the woman, regardless of whether that man was already married or not. This Law was continued all the way up to the time of Christ, when the Sadducees appeal to it in asking a question of Jesus in Matthew 22:23-33.
While polygamy may not be specifically condoned in the OT, it certainly is not specifically condemned either.
(O)ne wife is enough. If she's a good and loving wife, you will never need another one, and if she isn't, well, then, you've already proven you suck at choosing women. Why risk it a second time?
Nominate for most insightful thing ever said on FSTDT!
Please, Chris, do that. Get married, then ask another woman to marry you too. Remember, women are your property, so you most definitely DON'T have to ask your first wife's permission. You're the man of the house!
Now I want to see how it pans out.
Your reasoning sounds like "Eating a burger is the same as murder. So, I can murder anyone I like, since we all know that you can eat a burger"
But yeah, I suppose you can, although you can't legally marry more than one woman in most countries.
Confused?
