[In reference to an article about ISP's getting ready to implement anti-piracy technology]
Yes. Not only that they'll probably ban religious web sites like rapture ready, voices of evangelism. For instance, If we instant message something about anything that involves Jesus, God, the bible or anti-Bush, three possible things might happen.
1. your entry will be rejected.
2. your connection will automatically be terminated.
3. Spyware gets into your computer even if you didn't download it.
If all else fails, we'll use Freenet to bypass their filters.

Anti-piracy technology will only create smarter and trickier pirates. I myself am not fond of ISPs or anyone sniffing through what I'm doing on the Internet. However, I highly doubt that they'd try to filter out anything related to Christianity, especially since they're so nicely abiding by one of the Ten Commandments ("Thou shalt not steal"). The scenario depicted by ComradeTaylor is downright silly.
Yeah! And then it's off to the bunkers, to talk in secret code!
Will you please get a life, Christian loonies...
And, I also heard they try alter your thinking through microwaves, so next time you use your computer, I suggest you invest in a tin-foil helmet to keep them out.
Or, alternatively, lay off the lighter fluid. Despite how it makes you feel, it isn't good for you.
In Western countries, there's no ban on religion (unless maybe you're discussing killing Jews or abortion doctors, conducting Jihad or arming the IRA); so the only thing Freenet will do is open your computer up for the anonymous transmission of other users' drug money and kiddie porn. On the other hand, in a country like North Korea, simply using Freenet will open you up to government harassment on the presumption you're doing something illegal. So in neither case will it accomplish much.
wow what does the first part have to do with the second??!
why the fuck would they do what hes claiming or even how?!
talk about paranoia
edit: you are an idiot taylor and clue-less about how the internet works
The most paranoid fundies are even anti-Bush.

Fortunately, this one has a Plan B.
That's because I own the copyrights to Jesus©, God ©, The Bible©, and all anti-Bush commentary.
If you wish to use any of these, send a cheque to...
Aw, STFU, asshole.
Frank and Ansem: Seriously? We'd still have Pat Robertson, Kent Hovind, Robert T. Lee, Christian Forums, T4C, etc etc etc. ad nausiam!

4. Then Skynet sends T1s and T1000s but Sarah Connor outsmarts them all.
I don't think the ISPs are actually going to start blocking websites without it being requested by the customer. That is internet censorship and it is a highly immoral practice characteristic of a dictatorship.
Any ISP that started censoring the Internet would lose their customers. That's how things work in a Capitalist economy.
I personally wish that religious extremists would go away, but it still would be wrong to just censor them out of existence.
Obviously, this is a website run by the Christian conspiracy theorists (nutcases such as Christian "Patriots", totalitarians such as Christian Reconstructionists, or racists such as Christian Identity).
I predict that the ISPs will never actually censor websites. However, if they do, alot of people are going to be using foreign proxies to bypass the DMCA and continue to get their free music.
The problem, stupid commander, is that those companies are private companies and are free to do whatever they wish. So, if their Christian clients make money, they will provide internet. If they're total crackpots and make them lose money, they will censor them. It's a business, not a special conspiracy stupid thing.
Hmmm, a delicious cocktail of paranoia, persecution complex, and an utter lack of computer knowledge.
1. Except religion isn't banned on the internet. And especially not in the US, no matter what the voices in your head tell you. Furthermore, your ignorance of IT is starting to show.
2. Not bloody likely. See #1.
3. In order to get it, you have to download it. Or someone has to upload it. Either is impossible if #2 happens.
Judging from your lack of IT knowledge, Freenet is too complex for you, n00b. Maybe you should use your foil hats to transmit radio frequencies to each other, eh?
Wow, back when I was a fundy youngling (dumb fucking kid), I had the same worries about anything typed up on my 286 that didn't even have internet. To see my childhood fear replicated by someone who I can only assume is at least thirteen years of age is astounding...
Your tinfoil hat is starting to show; get more dead leaves and twigs. Honestly, it's fuckwits like this that need to be publicly executed; the rest can be sent to little "camps" where they can slowly die out as a species.
Hmm... What's the latin word for "religion?"
Christianity is PIRACY?!
Oooo...Kay?
The sad thing is I work tech support, and there's actually a surprising number of calls we get where people have a half installed antivirus on their computer they don't even know the name of, much less know how to use, spend all their time downloading and opening anything that comes across their screen, and then blame the ISP when they get a virus that kills their connection. I actually had someone exactly like this once, that claimed the government gave him a virus because he was a christian, and claimed that he was going to sue the ISP for damaging his computer system. On the other hand, we get the opposite crazies, who think the ISP tracks everything they do on line and actually care what sites they're going to, that demand to know what their teenagers have been doing online at three am like we know or care.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
