I am watching The History Channel: Banned From the Bible II" right now; explaining feminism rooting back to Genisis, with Adam's first wife Lilith, who was "equal" because he and she were made both from the same dust.
Adam gets frustraited because his wife will not submit. She will not lay under him and will not obey him. Essentially, she is the first feminist.
She leaves Adam and goes to the highest peak in the garden of Eden. She yells God's name in Hebrew (which was not supposed to be pronounced in Hebrew) and grows wings, flying into heaven and forsaken Adam.
God sees this and is angry. He tells three angels to go back to Adam or else she will be banished from the Garden, becoming a demon and watching 100 of her own children die each day for the rest of eternity. She chooses the latter, and becomes the demon who kills infants, unborn children, and molesting. (She is the demon feminist of abortion!)
God saw that Adam was alone, which was not good. To ensure that his new wife would submit, God made Eve from Adam's very own rib; making her his own.
In conclusion, feminism is the root of many evils, you see, it just is not the way.

Because god hates him an uppity’ woman. “For thou shalt remain barefooted and preggers before thine Missionary Style Only’ man, and no one shall come up with a better position because it is the one where man dominates the woman.”
Eve sounds like a meddling doormat. Lilith sounds like a cool broad. ;-)
So now that miss butt has broadened her theology to include at least one apocryphal scripture, is she going to include ALL the other books that the Council of Nicene left out of the bible - or, will she follow the lead of those men and include only the ones that comply with her preconceived ideology?
well that's an interesting take on jewish mythology...(no really, the story is not really written in any holy text, it's considered Judeo-Christian mythology)
it's only recently that the feminist take has been seen.
I just , find hard to believe that in the 21 century we have people who actually believe their is a Lilith Succubus /demond boogie women flying around out there .Molesting Young boys and killing infants in there cribs ..
Come on grow the fuck up the boogie man or women was just pretend and make believe OK .
In conclusion, feminism is the root of many evils, you see, it just is not the way. Because your Holy Book tells you so? What if Norse mythology says that the North Sea is full of giant ship-eating worms? Should we start directing all shipping traffic around it?
Okay Mrs Butte County, If feminism is so bad, go clean my kitchen, wash my feet, and STFU.
Oh yeah, and please stop voting.
Thank
Ya know - there are actually strong women in the Bible, that are portrayed well (the doesn't discount the vast misogyny it contains, though). Mary Magdelene being the famous one; she was a prostitute, and then eventually became a repsected confidant to Jesus, and an official Apostle.
You don't see the anti-Feminist (read: misogynistic) Christians mentioning her all that often.
@Darth Wang
Actually, if I recall correctly, Baal was pretty much the same dude as the Egyptian god Set, who, in later mythology, was believed to have hacked Osiris to pieces.
"to all anti-abortionists: if your god supposedly came up with the idea in the first place, how about he stop first?"
comes to mind
... plus someone's gotta knock her up at least 100x a day... I'm guessing he took up THAT little task, kinda like with that poor mary girl?
Wait a second I thought the fundies Christian god was Omnipotent being .Please tell me how a all knowing all powerful God such Yahweh Jehovah or what ever he called could
make a such big fucking mistake as Lilith..
I thought that God was perfect being and could never make a mistake ,
OH wait a second I remember old Catechism I know what your going to all say next . your all going to say its all part of his Divine plan aren't you .
And we all know god is Divine and who are we to question his divinity .
So much bull shit in such a little book
Erm, that's not how I see the story. More like a "Go Lillith" waving a #1 hand kind of reaction here. Adam sounds like a moron who just wants a sex toy/baby factory to play with. Lillith realizes that she's not a plaything. God gets mad because she isn't a good little slave for precious, simple-minded Adam. So he makes Eve, the first brainless doormat wife, to keep Adam happy so he isn't challenged by an intellectual equal.
So Adam is stupid. Eve is stupid. Lillith is the only smart human alive at the time, and God doesn't like her. Maybe God just hates smart people... which would explain why fundies like him so much...
Lilith was a sumerian goddess or demoness. Anyway, this story is incomprenhensible to me. Why was she supposed to submit?, she was created from the same dust as him. I always thought that the "inferiority" of Eve came from the fact that she was created from Adam. So, here, that problem is off, can you explain me why did God took the side on one of his kids and disregarded the other for no good reason?
"She yelled God's name in Hebrew"? No wonder he got pissed, everyone knows that fundie God only speaks King James English. Gee, you'd think that God was Jewish or something with people talking Hebrew to him!
Baal is Hebrew for 'Lord', it is a more antiquated term for Yahweh, there never was a separate god called Baal (it was the term the Israelites used for god, before (and after) the Israel/Judea split), it is however added on in front of different gods names to show that they where important.
Oh and I thought that Mary Magdalene wasn't a prostitute, but that was another woman called Mary who followed Jesus, but the misogynistic early church 'fathers' combined the two to lower Magdalene's reputation.
Yes, because heaven forbid Lilith might want to be treated as more than a plaything. I always thought that story was stupid, banishing someone because she wanted to go on top? How stupid is that?
And well, it wasn't exactly a very easy choice that God offered her. Go back to a grown-up spoiled brat and be his doormat for eternity or become a demon. She must have dying of laughter when Adam and Eve got kicked out from Eden as well.

Lilith wouldn't have trusted the serpent as she had a "mind". Eve was a "help meet", submissive and programmed to obey: no wonder the serpent had his wicked way with her.
PS her weedling of Adam shows the true way for women to get what they want (NOT!)
Confused?
