[Are we becoming too tolerant of differences?]
Yes, and homosexuality is a good example. Tolerance is a good thing. However, it doesn't mean we shouldn't change the bad things about ourselves that can harm us physically and mentally. If you're a homosexual, you should try to be straight and stay away from relationships that involve the opposite gender. If you over eat, you should learn to control your cravings. It's simple.

In other words, be a house divided against itself.
My sexuality harms me neither physically nor mentally. Forcing myself into a heterosexual relationship, however, would.
So I shall follow this person's advice and avoid that which could harm me, by continuing to live contentedly as a gay man.
Please tell us why "differences" are a bad thing.
What's wrong with variety? Are you that bland?
Would you prefer all ice cream shops serve only one flavor of ice cream?
Are you THAT INSECURE that the idea that people different from you actually exist literally makes you have a heart attack?
Are you THAT weak?
I'm bisexual, which to me means that when it comes to finding a partner for my life, what they have between their knees isn't really involved in the consideration, I'm more focused on what kind of person they are.
Are you suggesting I limit my standard to the purely physical, and not select a partner based on their intelligence, wit and compassion, regardless of what's hiding in their undies? That sounds awfully sexist and discriminatory.

Yes, and ignoramuses are a good example...
...If you're an ignoramus, you should try to research a topic before discussing it and stay away from online forums if you don't.
As long as the differences don't harm others or infringe on their equal rights; no, we are not too tolerant.
Homosexuality and heterosexuality have the same risk of harming us physically and mentally.
What? You should try to be straight, but stay away from the opposite gender? How does that work?
You do know that over-eating is more than just simple cravings, right? That the bacteria in our guts decide a lot about what we eat? That during human evolution, starvation was the problem, not over-eating, so our bodies are programmed to keep storing as much energy as they can, and to quickly get us back to where we were after a period of starvation (aka dieting), right? It's very, very far from simple, and obese people usually know more about dieting than skinny people can even imagine.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
