Thought I'd write AaronHelseth a little note on his Youtube page, and whaddaya know, it's been deleted within a couple of minutes. I think I offended him... by being able to spell. Did I overstep the line?:
"Why would an atheist have any concern whatsoever about another human. so what if some poor kid dies that doesn't affect you Its just one less person to get in your way. You just proved you belive in God. Another exsample of a guy claiming to be atheist but living as though theres a God. Atheists don't have feelings moron. Atheists don't matter and are irrelevant by there own admission.? By your own admission your just an accedental piece of garbage waiting to die. This is ametuer hour."
This comment you recently made exemplifies precisely why it is important for people to demonstrate concern for others: namely that there are so many people out there, and you appear to be one of them, who are perfectly happy to consider some humans to be unacceptable and/or sub-human on the basis of the contents of their minds and how they perceive reality, and that kind of negativity has to be counter-balanced by people who do not adopt such an exclusivist philosophy.
It is clearly one of the darker parts of human nature to consider people who are like oneself, even if only in some superficial way, to be inherently superior to those who are not. This may fall down religious, linguistic, racial or other lines, but in every case, it results in a dehumanisation of the target group. At the root of every major conflict since the dawn of humanity, the sides have been delineated by some superficial perception of the other side being "foreign". We know this is destructive, yet some people continue to do it anyway. This is what you have done with your comment: denied one of the fundamental aspects of someone's humanity, presumably in order to enjoy the gratifying feeling of personal superiority over the "foreign" group, which in this case is atheists.
Can you appreciate how this kind of thinking can be dangerous to human well-being? Once you dehumanise a particular group, the normal barriers preventing you from curtailing the rights of people in that group crumble and conflict, argument and hatred ensues with a rather banal predictability.
I would not presume to tell you what to think, but urge you strongly to reconsider the views you expressed in your comment and come to a more humane understanding of why we should express concerns for others. Thank you!
