As Mr. Scott points out, the glorious Constitution is there to protect the rights of Christians to profess their faith. This country was founded by good Christians and the Constitution guarantees our right to express our religion. It just is completely beyond me how we have allowed Liberals to deny us this guaranteed right. Oh, they raise ridiculous arguments like other (false) religions would be "upset" if they were forced to pray alongside the righteous in schools or council meetings. Surely those others would appreciate the opportunity to be saved.

Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia #fundie washingtonmonthly.com

[Justice Scalia debates lawyer Peter Eliasberg during the case Buono v. Salazar, regarding a cross on federal land.]

"The cross doesn't honor non-Christians who fought in the war?" Scalia asks, stunned.

"A cross is the predominant symbol of Christianity, and it signifies that Jesus is the son of God and died to redeem mankind for our sins," replies Eliasberg, whose father and grandfather are both Jewish war veterans.

"It's erected as a war memorial!" replies Scalia. "I assume it is erected in honor of all of the war dead. The cross is the most common symbol of ... of ... of the resting place of the dead."

Eliasberg dares to correct him: "The cross is the most common symbol of the resting place of Christians. I have been in Jewish cemeteries. There is never a cross on a tombstone of a Jew."

"I don't think you can leap from that to the conclusion that the only war dead the cross honors are the Christian war dead," thunders Scalia. "I think that's an outrageous conclusion!"

[regarding Tiger Woods]

"The extent to which he can recover seems to me depends on his faith," Hume said. "He is said to be a Buddhist. I don't think that faith offers the kind of forgiveness and redemption that is offered by the Christian faith. So, my message to Tiger is, 'Tiger, turn to the Christian faith and you can make a total recovery and be a great example to the world."

(response to a National Survey of America's College Students study showing that only 31% of graduating college seniors pass a test of prose literacy)

I'm not surprised the colleges did so poorly. I looked through the report and the study did not include conservative Christian colleges like Bob Jones University and Jerry Falwell Liberty University. It's not surprising the conservative Christian colleges were left out of the study because they knew if they were included, it would show conservative Christian colleges did substantially better than the secular liberal arts colleges in educating students. Conservative Christian colleges instill a sense of moral values and mission in life that greatly improves a student's education.
