Basically, The protests are not peaceful and the students started killing the soldiers first. The students burnt and hung many soldiers before the soldiers retaliate. There were two protests, one in Tiananmen Square and another in Muxidi, a few kilometres near Tiananmen. Nobody died in Tiananmen, and 100-300 (soldiers and students combined) died in a conflict in Muxidi. The tank did not crush the guy. There are some evidence (although I’m not entirely sure) that CIA was involved, possibly funding the rioters. But yeah, western media turns it into very successful propaganda. But the thing that really disgusts me is that they would turn a blind eye to Gwanju massacre (1980) in South Korea and Rabaa massacre (2013) in Egypt but making a hell of a deal out of Tiananmen massacre.
