I was seriously surprised at all the people who were basically saying... they used to be a democrat/liberal but are now switching to republican/conservative.
I also was a life-long very staunch liberal but I just couldn't vote for the liberal party. It was a tough decision because I knew Trump was horrible and republicans would do some very bad things and yet... at the end of the day all of that paled in comparison to my being exposed to penises in the women's showers. Conservatives are the only ones willing to even consider the harms of transgenderism.
Plus -- and I understand the desire to downvote me for this -- young liberal women just don't understand how much men continue to hate them. They prefer to believe that sexism is all in the past and that men as a class have earned their perpetual trust. Well, the next 8 years is their Welcome-To-Reality giftbasket and here's hoping they find the contents both tasty and instructional. Women who lose their skepticism lose their rights.

You know, it seems to me that its more the conservatives that seems to think that things like sexism and racism are in the past then the liberals who continue to fight against them. Also denying transgender individuals their rights simply because of a bit of fear about seeing a few penises in communal showers is horrible, especially since denying their rights might expose you to more of them since people who identify as men would be forced to use women's showers.
You're kidding me, right? Trump's horrible, Republicans are going to do horrible things, but all that pales in comparison to the "harms of transgenderism", which apparently consists of possibly seeing male genitalia???
I checked womenhaveovaries's Reddit comments and it appears that they most likely are a woman. And that they believe that all men are borderline or actual MRAs. And that transwomen, being men, are also MRAs. And that everything involved with being trans is a choice in the same technically true but completely wrongheaded sense which religious fundies are about gay people.

Surely the skeptical approach would be to deny that any class of people - certainly one the size of half of humanity - could ever earn your trust or enmity as a class and to offer or withhold that trust on an individual basis, depending on whether that individual has earned it.
Likewise, I shouldn't have to caution the "skeptical" observer about the inherent danger in this sort of "us vs. them" thinking. If you believe all men are the enemy and - more critically - that the enemy must be men, you blind yourself to the possibility that some women could be your enemy. Believe me, they aren't going to be so naive about you . Women (or men) who lose their skepticism do stand to lose a lot, but they stand to lose it to women as well as men.
I love how all the groups "the liberals" are supposed to be in cahoots with talk about us the same way conservatives do: rad-fems, Fundie Muslims, and communists come to mind.
When so many confirmed stupid groups take issue with a viewpoint, it's probably at least pointed in the right general direction

And if you're so afraid at seeing a piece of human anatomy it just reaffirms my belief that we Americans are way too prudish when it comes to casual nudity.

Of all the reasons to vote for or against a political candidate, THIS is what you base your decision on?
So you voted against your principles, for someone you know is horrible and know will do bad things, just for one issue that will have an almost negligible impact on your life. All to step on another group, who vitally need these laws, just because they make you personally uncomfortable with their existence.
And there are very few young women who think sexism is in the past; that's usually the line of older women trying to deride or dismiss the complaints of younger women. There is definitely a segment of older feminists who feel that since women can vote, get abortions, and have somewhat equal job opportunities, that means all the things third wave feminism is trying to fix (like harshly restrictive gender roles, high rates of sexual assault, all the little insidious ways misogyny presents itself in modern society) are just quibbles that would work themselves out if millenials would just sit down and shut up.
I think my generation is well aware of all we could potentially lose under a Trump presidency. But thanks for fucking all of us, the entire country, by voting for an incompetent egomaniac solely because you can't handle the fact that some people feel like they fall outside of the gender they were assigned at birth.
One of my Facebook groups recently had a radfem infestation. It was from them that I learned that "women have ovaries" is a new TERF battle cry. The (twisted) logic goes; transwomen can buy surgery to make their outside match their inside, but they can't buy functioning ovaries. Only real (read:cis) women are born with ovaries.

Oh no. For someone who stated that the Conservatives are 'The Party of Safety', especially with what happened on Westminster Bridge, Manchester & London Bridge of late, her jumping into bed with the DUP demonstrates her post-Labour annihilation desperation:
