The chairman of the Old Testament who translated the New International Version was an open homosexual. No wonder he removed the word “sodomite” from the Bible completely. It is wickedness to remove the word sodomite from the Bible, which is the Biblical term for a homosexual. Romans 1:25 says that the wicked “change the truth of God into a lie.” Homosexuality is a horrible sin, just as are all sins. Any sin can be forgiven in Christ, but this does not mean embracing the homosexual lifestyle as being acceptable or legitimate. The NIV Bible is of the Devil, translated and endorsed by homosexuals.
If you love Jesus, then you're not going to use a perverted Bible version that diminishes His deity, removes the Godhead and removed the blood of Jesus 15 TIMES!
If Dr. John R. Rice were still alive on earth today, I am convinced that he would take an uncompromising stand as I am, as a preacher, against the perversion of modern corrupt Bible versions. The NIV took the Bible version issue to a whole new level. Now the new NIV 2011 has been published, which is gender neutral, no longer calls the Holy Spirit a “He,” wives are no longer commanded to obey their husbands, et cetera.

It's not in Hebrew, nor is it in Greek. But that's not your reasoning, is it, DJS? The "Biblical word" is the word used in the KJV, so to translate a word by using a word other than in the KJV is wickedly removing the "Biblical word." For those less interested in the Bible, let me put this more graphically:

Dr John Rice may have been a fundamentalist's fundamentalist, but he was five years old when the American Standard Version came out and he approved of the translation.
"Queen" James was also a more or less open homosexual, as far as I know.
Homosexuality is not in the Seven Deadly Sins, nor in the Ten Commandments. One would think, that if it's so horrible, God would have included it in both. Instead it seems it is only as horrible as cutting your hair and beard, or wearing clothes of mixed fibers.
You do know King James, ie.the King James Bible, was gay, right? He even had a secret passage that connected his bed chamber to his lover's.
Let's remove editing and corruption from the Bubble, and restore Genesis to its original polytheism.
As for the New Testament, let's remove all these later Gospels that brazenly steal miracles and myths from other religions and interpolate Paul's proscriptive Phariseean morality, and stick to the original words of Rabbi Jesus. Gee, there aren't any relating to homosexuality, are there?
I haven't read the NIV except for some brief readings in a Bible study back when I was in the transition to atheism. That said, is David making this stuff up? I suspect he is, but confirmation would be nice.
Indeed! King James enjoyed sodomy. A lot. Probably showed up at meetings of the Bible Committee with cum on his breath. King James, however, never had to plead guilty to Child Abuse and Criminal Sexual Conduct charges, like Davie did.
According to the NIV, "sodomite" ISN'T a biblical word. And unless Jesus himself comes down and announces that the King James version is the one true, definitive translation then your favorite version isn't any more or less valid than anyone else's. In fact, given that a great deal of scholarship went into the NIV and the KJV was written in the middle ages, I'd say the NIV has a leg up on you. Oh, and FYI, King James was gay.
I like not calling the holy spirit a "he". It makes sense. Why would an aspect of a god that created male and female in its image be exclusively male?
Also, pretending you're any form of arbiter on morality? That's rich, coming from a child molester.
Sodomite means "inhabitant of Sodom". The slang word came from the eighteenth century. The gay, forma the récord, was that James we're all thinking of. Do you think that you can get away with bad research anymore?
The term "sodomite" is a biblical term for a resident of Sodom. Also, the words that are randomly translated into "sodomite" that do not have that meaning are very hard-to-translate hapaxes legomena.
If homosexuality can be forgiven in Christ, doesn't that mean that all gay Christians go to heaven?
I'm glad wives are no longer commanded to always obey their husbands, frankly.
James I/VI had 10 children with Anne of Denmark, and 8 illegitimate children with 4 different mistresses. Did he have a physical relationship with Buckingham? We really don't know.
BTW, Richard the Lionhearted wasn't gay, either, he was marriage-phobic.
"Romans 1:25 says that the wicked “change the truth of God into a lie.”"
I like that he mentions this even though literally every quote on this website, including this one, does just that.
Actually, the Bible doesn't contain the word "sodomite". That was the KJV translators' translation of the Hebrew "qadesh". It's properly translated into "temple prostitute"; and in the passage, (Deut. 23:17) it was clearly applied to both sexes:
"None of the daughters of Israel shall be a qadesh nor shall any of the sons of Israel be a qadesh."
"Sodomite" was dropped in favor of "cult prostitute" in the RSV back in the late 1940's. The NIV translates it as "No Israelite man or woman is to become a shrine prostitute."

Yea, but the seven deadly sins are an invention of the Catholic Church, and the 10 Commandments is simply the fundies being either too stupid, and/or lazy to bother reading, and observing all those other commandments, found in Deuteronomy and Leviticus.
I will say, the seven deadly sins aren't complete bullshit like the 10 Commandments. I don't care what a person's beliefs are, most of us can probably at least agree that they can all lead to serious social, and psychological problems, when taken to extremes. And the Seven Virtues aren't bad traits to encourage either.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
