[I accept Christianity as the only logical religion]
Yeah, it would be EXCEPT for the fact, Christianity is NOT a Religion!
They are complete opposites.

My MiL has got my wife spewing this shit too.
My final word when this comes up is this: Does your church pay taxes? If not it's because it's a religion. If you're not a religion, start paying your share of the taxes. End of fucking story.
Can I please refer everyone who ever complains about the persecution of christians to you, ThreeInOne?
Because if it isn't a religion, you don't have a constitutional right of freedom to it. You know, like the same way atheism is just another religion until we try to claim our right to practise it, at which point it is suddenly not one again.
WTF Mate? The opposite of a religion? Is it tacos?
(20,000 interwebs if you get the aquateens reference)
The dude is relentless... After someone refuted his argument by saying that history books and anyone with a logical brain knows Christianity is a religion, he says, "Oh well, if the HISTORY books said it, it must be true!
The history books also LIE about evolution and all sorts of things! I wish you took the bible for it's word as much as you do the history books."
Anyway he claims Christianity is about a personal relationship to God, failing to see almost every religion pretty much emphasizes the same thing.
I love it when they claim Christianity isn't a religion, but a 'personal relationship with God'. I spent a whole page debating the point with a fundie over at LucasForums an eternity ago. He staunchly insisted that because Christianity, unlike all the other religions, was true, it was not a religion at all. It also, for some reason, had something to do with his misconception that faith alone would get you to Paradise.

I love it when they say that a "religion" is just a bunch of rules you have to follow, then turn around and blast the whole world for not living according to their rules.
Pointed that out to a fundie once, and he said, "But when you have a personal relationship with Jesus, you WANT to follow his rules."
Now I guess I've heard just about everything: Catholics aren't Christians, Christianity isn't a religion, atheism is, Jesus wasn't Jewish, the Baptist Church was founded by Jesus himself - where do people come up with this stuff?
The opposite of religion is atheism.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Christianity fits that label.
...
wow...
just...
wow.
Well, gotta hand it to him, that's a new one to me. Too bad it's wrong. Back to the drawing board, dumbshit.
So you want preferential treatment for your "relationship" with a 2,000 year old dead guy whose father had him brutally tortured and murdered because once upon a time two nudists took dietary advice from a talking snake...but two competent flesh-and-blood adults can't sign a marriage certificate because they have the same genitalia?
Man, that's weird.
... Well then there's a few centuries of retroactive tax they owe.
Dunno about the US but up here in canada, the penalty is that you pay double what you owe (pay it back, and pay the whole amount again as penalty), as I recall. That's when it was purposeful, of course. Like, say, churches.
... I can almost smell the free healthcare you americans could get for that kind of money... Just remember Four little words: Non-Profit Private system.
Because public really does have its issues (mainly bloat at the upper levels which a smaller private system could rip out, saving probably 50% of the budget from not having those ministers and sub-ministers and ministerial assistants and all their secretaries, secreterial administrative assistants, other penpushers and a fricking payroll department because that's getting big), but most of the time, for nearly all of us, it means free treatment and cheap meds.
... stupid... lack of edit...
(add to end of last post)
But if you let it be a for-profit private organisation, with no actual regulation (if profit's allowed, at least limit the maximum margin to something very low, and force all profits to be used directly on improving the infrastructure of said hospital), well.... you'll have your big Pharma in charge yet again. and we all know how expensive that resarch (yeah, the one done by those barely-paid university students like so many of my friends[300 bucks a week, minus that 1200+ tuition you paid to get in], which is patented by whatever company sponsored their professor's pet project at one point, making obscenely gargantuan per-dose profit margins made smaller only by the board-of-director's paychecks)
Yeah, it would be EXCEPT for the fact, Christianity is NOT a Religion!
Wha...?
They are complete opposites.
The opposite of a religion...is...atheism. So, Christianity is atheism? Or, wait. Secularism? So, all those tax breaks for being "religious institutions" were really just tax dodges? Wait, wait, wait...I am really confused.
Yikes.
yep
Xianity is a lifestyle choice, like painting your drawing room black.
NBot like being gay, which is an integral characteristic
"Christianity is NOT a Religion!"
In that case, the IRS would like to have a word with you. Y'see, there's a whole shitload of back-taxes that your churches need to pay. With interest.
(check one):
[ ] Are all your established church organisations' pastors etc prepared to force you & your ilk pay increased tithes to make up for the unimaginable financial losses they'd incur? (it's either that, or lose the church premises and/or the land they're on to the Federal Government).
[ ] Are you prepared to admit that Christianity is a Religion, thus annihilating your argument?
Choose wisely, ThreeInOne. Either way, you're fucked.

Yeah, it would be EXCEPT for the fact, Christianity is NOT a Religion!
They are complete opposites.<
Yeah, it would be except for the fact; Christianity is not logical !
Fixed.
" EXCEPT for the fact, Christianity is NOT a Religion!"
Since Jesus never existed, I guess you got that part right.
It has deity and dogma. It fits criteria for religion but if we have to play your game
Tax churches. No more 1st amendment protections, as those are designed for religions.
Also you do realize that the whole idea of a relationship with divine isn't exclusive to Christianity right?
Christianity is NOT a Religion!
So if that's not a fact, then (check one):
[ ] You're fucked: as you don't even have a philosophy, never mind a 'belie f'.
[ ] If yours isn't a religion, then your churches/organisations etc will therefore have a hard time in trying to explain - before they foreclose such & take possession of even your God himself - to the IRS how you won't be able to pay your share of the rather sizeable amount of the total tax owed by Christianity since 1776; as that runs to nearly $17 quadrillion , then right-wing fundamental ist Christainity's share of that will be untold trillions . And you're still fucked.
Choose wisely.
Confused?
