God has promised to preserve His Holy Word unto all generations which would include ours. God is not the author of confusion, thus the entire textual criticism arguments are against that simple truth. Most dangerous is the current emphasis on studying the “original” languages from current lexicons which have unfortunately been corrupted. What a shame to spend so much time trying to find the “truth” of the Bible in an earthly corrupt lexicon, when God has already provided a pure text in English for all to read, study and memorize already.

And what's more, he's handily provided it in NIV, NASB, Amplified, KJV, NLT, CEV, ESV, NCV, ASV and YLT versions, plus many more, so that we can enjoy it's divine inerrency in dozens of different ways!
Hooray!

- this makes two big assumptions (1) that there is a god; (2) that the contracdiction-ridden text of the Bible was ever inspired by that god. Contradictions do not inspire me to believe it was ever divinely inspired, nor do they prove it is a truthful account of anything.

- When did your preacher tell you this? Language scholars know quite a lot about the languages of the bible texts. Far more than your average preacher does. When did you last hear Falwell, Robertson or Phelps speak Ancient Hebrew? So preacher apart, how did you come by this little gem of ignorance?

- Ahem, and when exactly did this happen? When did god come down and say that the English version of the Bible is the best. I didn't even know god spoke English. On reflection, since he dealt mostly with Jews, he is more likely to speak Hebrew. Nu? You really have been brainwashed.
Studying the ancient Greek texts has led some scholars to assert that the words in the KJV may have been mistranslated. Obviously, studying the Greek versions is therefore a bad idea, because all fundies know that the KJV came directly from God.
Morons.
Whoa, whoa, whoa...so...don't trust the original texts, where one can divine the actual meaning, written by the hand of the author himself...THE ONE WHO WAS DIVINELY INSPIRED...but rather, trust a lowly mortal translator who may or may not have shifted, fudged or interpreted it to meet an agenda? Riiiiight.

Ya think?

Oh look, another fundy that needs to read his Bible--and not just the verses prescribed by his preacher:
2 Chronicles 18:22
Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil against thee.
See that bolded part pal? Sounds a lot like your deity does just what you claim he doesn't.

Which is th e "pure" text in English? You realize that almost none of them say the same things other than in a very generalized sense, right?
So WTF do French people read, then?
A corrupt translation, obviously. That's why French fundies are so hard to find. :-)
Does fundyism sound sexier in French too, do you think?
"Ah, ma petit dejeuner, I wheel now speak to you ze wurdz of lurv... 'Femmes, soyez soumises a vos maris, comme au Seigneur. Car le mari est le chef de la femme, comme Christ est le chef de l'Eglise, qui est son corps, et dont il est le Sauveur.'"
(Ephesians 5:22, if you were wondering.)
wow...just wow....
The stupid burns.
Wow. They finally admit it. "If English was good enough for Jaysuz, it's good enough for US!" I'm sure that soon they'll try to claim Jesus was white, and born in Europe, to an equally white mother. Hell, that troll FullOfShit Faith on the forums has already tried to claim Jesus wasn't even Jewish.

@Sophie : a real example of this phenomenon would be a certain Defensor Fidei. Or half the clowns at Stormfront or VNN.
If you believe everything in the bible was 100% literal, you would believe the tower of babel story was true. And the whole POINT of that was to create confusion.
And god would unleash a DoS attack on babelfish unlike anything we've ever seen.

Actually, if his intent was to cause confusion, he would just leave it alone.
(And the same reply translated English > German > French > English via BF)
Really if was necessary to cause its intention, with disorders, it would precisely only leave it.
Confused?
