I know this will come as a shock to you, but most people do not give a fuck what is "acceptable" to "Christian and traditional family people."

Moral 'Million Moms' Out of... say... tens of millions of other, non-Conservative Christian mothers in the US, I'd say that the P.R. of JC Penney's can say to the likes of you 'Go fuck yourselves.' You're not the only customers out there; nor the only market. Wal-Mart took over Asda in the UK, we can do the same with, say, Morrisons or Sainsbury's. Supply and demand, bitch. You & your ilk are in the minority. And you know it. Pepsico are openly pro-LGBT. Hasn't affected them.

I've always been a little conflicted on O'Reilly. I like a lot of what he says and purchased his book for kids, "The O'Reilly Factor for Kids" when my oldest was in middle school. On the other hand, he does seem soft on some issues, including this. I remember when he interviewed Marilyn Manson after Columbine, he went really soft on him and didn't question his satanism, even though O'Reilly professes to be a Christian. In fact, there seemed to be a weird "nod nod, wink wink" thing going on between them, like they were playing a game with the viewers, and O'Reilly gave a bunch of airtime to Manson's videos, showing clips of Marilyn Manson rising out of a swamp. I wrote to him after that interview asking why he didn't question Manson's religious beliefs or counter them by professing Christ, but he never replied, of course. He's also been soft on Islam and has said several times that he doesn't see a link between terrorism and Muslim beliefs.

Thanks for pointing that out. You are quite correct. Hell, OReilly even supports the idea of gay couples adopting children. OH THE HORRORS (ok...that was sarcasm, the horrors part, not the adopting children part, that is factual). YES....Oreilly supports adopting children for gay couples. I figure that will be good for a few heart attacks in FSTDT land. While I am probably busy in the business of ruffling feathers, may I humbly suggest that there is a difference between facts and political opinions. Opinions are value judgements, not fact. I am careful to not call somebody a liar because I disagree with their opinions. I dont always agree with Oreilly, but that does not mean he tells lies.

@ Dr Shrinker....The Republicans WERE the heros of the civil rights act of 64. The final vote for passage in both houses were around 80% republican voting for, and only about 63% of democrats voting for. Good read on it here. Dr Shrinker said conservatives were against it. Conservative doesn't necessarily mean Republican. Party demographics were very different at the time. The Republican party was more moderate, since they hadn't gone batshit insane courting the fundamentalist voters, and there were many conservatives in the Democratic party, particularly in the southern states. Look at the breakdown of the votes on the civil rights act in the states that were part of the Confederacy:

House Bill:
Democrats - Total: 94 - Yes: 7 - No: 87
Republicans - Total: 10 - Yes: 0 - No: 10

Senate Bill:
Democrats - Total: 21 - Yes: 1 - No: 20
Republicans - Total: 1 - Yes: 0 - No: 1

Now let's look at the totals for the voting from the other states:

House Bill:
Democrats - Total: 154 - Yes: 145 - No: 9
Republicans - Total: 162 - Yes: 138 - No: 24

Senate Bill:
Democrats - Total: 46 - Yes: 45 - No: 1
Republicans - Total: 32 - Yes: 27 - No: 5

Surprise, surprise. The racists in the south overwhelmingly voted to oppose the civil rights act, no matter what party they were in. It's just that the Democrats held more seats there. The southern states were always heavily Democratic after the Civil War. It probably had something to do with the fact that Lincoln was a Republican.

Once you remove the ex-confederate states from the equation, a higher percentage of Democrats voted for the bill than Republicans. Though to the Republicans' credit, it wasn't by much.

I think Lincoln is probably spinning in his grave at the current state of the Republican party.

In all the times I've read the New Testament, there isn't so much as word one spokren by Jesus in condemnation of homosexuality. So that therefore means he condones, nay, supports LGBT people, and their rights so unjustifiably denied them by the likes of Troll/Poe/Nuts4Life

@ScrappyB. Correct. I knew that. I was born and raised in the democratic south. But Read Shrinker's post again. He conflates republican with conservative in the 60's, and relates that to future possibilities. He forgets people like George Wallace, Robert Byrd, democrats, and their hatred of blacks. And JFK spoke a good game, but had the FBI spy on MLK, and voted against civil rights laws while he was a senator. The KKK was an outcropping of the democratic party (which Robert Byrd...looooog time democrat, was a high ranking member of). Look at the stats again. Being elected as a Repub in the south was almost unheard of. And it was not because of Lincoln. Repubs were too "liberal". Nowadays, it seems that "liberals" conflate republicans with fundie xians. Yes, most fundie xians are repubs, but it doesnt go the other way around. The Pink Pistols....a gay group of gun owners, are almost exclusively Republicans. Dont hear much about them. Selective news reporting perhaps.... Interestingly, the xian contingent were mostly democratic/ liberal until Reagan convinced Jerry Falwell to become a political influence for the religious. These political things flip flop from time to time. During the Scopes monkey trail, William Jennings Bryan was a VERY liberal democrat who testified against evolution. Back them, republicans were the "free thinkers" and liberals were the "religious". I am neither a repub nor a dem. I enjoy this site to hone my thoughts on learning to recognize and debunk religious nonsense. Conflating religion with politics (IMHO) only serves to muddy the waters of getting the religiously intolerant to leave us alone.
