The student who dramatically shut down Milo Yiannopolous’ speech at DePaul University last night has claimed the controversial speaker’s views on race and feminism are to blame for the Charleston shootings – and has vowed to continue halting “hate speech”.

Yiannopoulos’ talk was abruptly halted when a group of activists stormed the stage and allegedly threatened to punch the speaker in the face. The protesters refused to leave the stage and snatched the microphone from the interviewer’s hand during the event about free speech.

Student and church minister Edward Ward (pictured top, and center in video below), along with a female accomplice, chanted against Donald Trump and screamed pro-Bernie Sanders statements in front of a crowd of hundreds. Speaking exclusively to Heat Street, he said: “This is not a point of shutting down free speech, it’s the point of shutting down hate speech” and promised to “continue to do so long as there’s anything that’s happening that threatens my safety”.

He added: “When I went, I was open to listen to what was being said, I was open to listen and try to understand. “But when it’s coming from a point of ignorance, when you make these blatant statements about feminists, when you make blatant statements about the LGBTQ community, when you make statements about black people – then it becomes a problem, because when you use this kind of hatred people like us end up dead. “You get Charleston. These are what you get as a result of his type of speech and rhetoric.”

The political science graduate also claimed: “You have a bunch of white people who wanna actually say a bunch of racist s*** and that’s not okay.” His as-yet unnamed female accomplice claimed on stage she had been silenced “for 200 years”.

A British academic has said she believes feminism has deprived men of sex and predicted that many more European males will in future be openly gay.

Dr Catherine Hakim, a social scientist and research fellow at London-based think tank Civitas, said she considers herself a feminist but explained that “radical feminism” – which is often taught on university gender studies courses – “presents an unremittingly negative view of heterosexual relationships”. She added that she believes this type of feminism, as opposed to “vanilla feminism”, encourages the view that women are “sleeping with the enemy” when they have sex with men.

When asked by the Conservative Woman website if she agrees with the idea that British men are “sex starved” as a result of feminism, Dr Hakim answered: “Probably, most men are, especially over the age of 35.”

She then joked: “However, Englishmen may have developed better methods of coping with it: cold showers, regular beatings with a cane at school or in religious retreats, and of course, the classic solution of homosexuality, where like minds meet and women become redundant.”

She went to say: “I forecast a rise in openly gay men across Europe, as a result of countries shifting from the historical surplus of women to the new numerical surplus of men throughout the world, according to the World Bank.”

Dr Hakim appeared to rationalize this by saying that the lack of world wars since 1945 meant there were far more men alive now than in the latter half of the 20th century.

She said: “This is the key downside of no World Wars – too many men!”

She then added: “Of course there is the alternative French (or Latin) solution: affairs, treated as an art form, with seduction, courtship, flirting, compliments, and of course lots of wine and elegant outings. This seems a more constructive and creative solution.”

Bernie Sanders disappointed a lot of people. He promised to take his fight all the way to the convention, but he cut loose, told everyone to vote for Hillary, and left all of his supporters hanging. Many people who don't even bother with the political process anymore listened to Bernie's words, became hopeful, donated their nickels and dimes, volunteered much of their time at different events, and then got screwed. My husband and I will be voting for Donald Trump. We will gnaw our feet off before we ever cast a vote for Hillary Clinton. Bernie Sanders has no idea how much he has discouraged people. And then he expects us to cheer Hillary Clinton on after he jumps ship? I don't think so. And the same can be said for the Democratic party. The people wanted Bernie, not Hillary, but because of the corrupt super delegate system, the will of the people was squashed. This is not what democracy is supposed to look like. If only a handful of people are going to decide who gets votes in the end, why bother having a primary election? My husband and I are registered Republicans, but we believed in Bernie Sanders' message. We contributed to his campaign financially again and again. We wanted him to win because we are convinced that the establishment politicians have completely lost touch with what the American people are living with and dealing with and facing day in and day out. Now that Bernie is out, we will be casting our vote for Donald Trump.
