i just wanna point out that i have never had arguments with any person of color who didn’t believe in God, mostly because you wouldn’t know if you didn’t ask, white (male) atheists are the only ones that go around being, ironically enough, nearly evangelical in their need to beat people (especially people of color, ESPECIALLY Black people) over the head with their violent and angry disbelief like some kind of fervent inverted religious slavemaster lmfao yall really went from preaching “slaves be obedient to your masters” as a way of dehumanizing Black people by using it out of biblical context, to weaponizing belief in God against Black people as way of dehumanizing them by characterizing them as “too stupid to know there’s no God” like lmfao whew chile the racism!

most white male atheism is born out of the white supremacist belief that there is no greater power in the universe than white men and that’s just tea

not to be “that guy” but the notion that “greater power” is equal to a white man was pretty much my previous religion’s doctrine

white supremacy doesn’t need a single doctrine in order to establish itself, it’s already well-established that religion has often been used as a tool of racism. this runs alongside, not against, the fact that a bulk of white atheism comes from establishing the white self as the god figure, just without the ritualistic trappings of organized religion, even though there’s a violently evangelical way that white people tend to talk about atheism, especially in the face of theistic people of color.
