Ok, this is one of what I hope will be several succeful debate topics.

What you do is tell whether you think dragons did exist or might still exist. Don't just put: dragons are cool so they must have existed. Thats lame. Give reasons, any historical/Scientific/Religious evidence.

My side of the debate:

Dragons did exist, but are now extinct. My reasons for this are: In the age of dinosaurs, there were flying dinos and fire-breathing dinos, how hard would it be to have a fire breathing flying dino? (Because I think that that is was Dragions were: dinosaurs, I do not belive they were sentient. They may have been smarter than other dinos, but the were not sentient or have higher thought functions. There have been dragon carcasses found. There is a history channel DVD titled: Dragons, a fantasy made real. That I am baseing this piont on. In the book of Revalations, in The Bible, there is a beast described as looking like a dragon-ish creature, When Paul talks about Armegadon, he talks of: Beasts that spat fire... The Bible often uses real-world examples of things, personally, I think that Paul was trying to describe a modern tank, using a dragon as a simile.

What? I've heard of flying dinosaurs like Pterodactylus, and Quetzalcoatlus but I have never heard of a fire breathing dinosaur. So tell me what it was called.

Okay I still don't know what the hell your talking about when you said fire breathing dinosaurs. As for this sentence, without them existing then we can't determine brain size. Also why didn't you close that parentheses?

There is a history channel DVD titled: Dragons, a fantasy made real.

The History Channel discussed how it might be, not how it is. History Channel sometimes deals in the hypothetical, and they said it was hypothetical many time throughout.

That I am baseing this piont on.

When you can't spell the words "basing" and "point", your argument looses a lot of credibility.

Ignoring the spelling and grammar mistakes in your writing of the phrase "Book of Revelation", there is no agreement on when it was written. Some say 2nd century AD, others say 70 AD. Not to mention that some people think it was written about the Roman emperor, Nero.

What are some real world examples of things? I mean it fails at some pretty basic things, like claiming insects have four legs, calling bats birds and the like.

Fire breathing dinosaurs?

Would be cool if there had been any. Unfortunately I remember not a single scientific study that hints at some dinosaur species that might have had the ability to do such things (to be more exactly, I remember not a single species at all that would be able to do such things...the closest thing which would come to fire breathing would be the defense mechanism of the bombardier beetle)

Oh and nope, while "Dragons" was really nice, it was not a real documentary. Maybe they should have written in big letters on the screen that "This documentary is not based on reality", just in case it is watched by people like Wylfgard Warrior.
Obviously they put too muich thrust into their beliefs about the intelligence of people watching the movie.

Androids did exist, but no longer do. My reasons for this are: a long time ago, there were people with wooden prosthesis (such as peg-legs), and people who had electrical wires instead of veins, so how hard would it be to imagine people with electrical wiring comprised entirely of wooden parts? (Because I think that's what androids were: wooden people, with psychokinetic powers. They may have been able to move some objects that normal people couldn't, but couldn't summon fire or cause an eclipse. There have been deactivated androids found. Find a show on sci-fi. That's what I'm basing this point on. In Isaac Asimov's book, there are things described that are similar to androids...and real-world things and places exist in other parts of his book. Personally, I think that Asimov was trying to describe the Internet, using wired people as a simile.

Um...there was never a fire-breathing dinosaur. Flying dinosaur, not technically (the term "dinosaur" is limited to the terrestrial creatures in scientific terms), but for all intents and purposes we can say sure. Fire-breathing dinosaur, not a one. And besides that, no one from ancient times, when dragons were first innovated, would have known about the dinosaurs anyway.

And using the term dragon to describe a tank? Uh-huh, and you've been watching Dr. No recently, I take it?

Don't get me wrong, I love the mythical-type dragons. But that's not enough for me to say they really did exist, at least on this world. There's no evidence for that anywhere.

Pterasaurs were not dinosaurs. And in order for something to breath fire it would have to have evolved a hell of a lot of protection from its own flammable breath.

... That was painful to read. You do know that Dragons: A Fantasy Made Real was a mockumentary... right? It... it wasn't serious. It was completely fictional and hypothetical.

Also, if you actually researched dragon mythology like I have, you'd know that the concept of dragons was originally inspired by encounters with dangerous snakes. In fact, the earliest depictions of dragons were essentially just giant serpents. Over time this image evolved into the giant, winged lizard image we recognize as a "dragon" today.
