For most mammals, including humans, a man “proves” himself primarily through intrasexual competition. In patriarchy, competitive males form trade agreements and one of the effects is enforce female performance via resource monopolization. She does not perform for sexual access, but resource access. The male is a middleman, sex is his racket. This performance is therefore not inherent to her sexual strategy. Take away the ability for men to force themselves on women, and they will switch to provocation to distinguish themselves.
As for homosexuals,

1. Exceptions do not disprove the rule, homosexuality is definitionally an aberration in sexually reproductive species (I will not get into the reasons homosexuality may exist to increase a genetic fitness, just homosexuality as an isolated concept)

2. Homosexuals are still subject to cultural and social influence/incentives
I would also disagree with your assessment on homosexuals in general. Lesbians are far less performative than their heterosexual counterparts, in terms of performing femininity. Gay men are also more performative than their heterosexual counterparts. I would say that, minus direct heteronormative incentives (having heterosexual sex lul), this tracks.
