"in the case of a 'Hung Parliament', he would be very powerful. He could effectively select the Prime Minister, because if he supported Gordon Brown or David Cameron, then they would have an overall majority and become the Prime Minister. This is dangerous because Clegg is an atheist"
Speaking as a Brit who voted in said General Election, this is a bad thing... how?
Besides, you know very little about politics and how such is perceived over here, unlike you Repubican, Neocon, Teabagger types.
Y'see, we over here possess a healthy British sense of irony and cynicism. Which gives us the ability to question everything - not just politicians, but religion as well. As a result, if any UK politician spoke & acted in a fundie way in public, it'd be a sure-fire vote killer, even in the Conservative Party. So, even if there are any devoutly religious MPs in a particular party, they'd be persuded to keep such to themselves by the party's Chief Whips in no uncertain terms! Because, as far as said religious MPs are concerned, the leader & the Chief Whips are God.
And so what if the Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg is now the 'kingmaker' of a potential Lib-Con/Lib-Lab Pact, and is an Atheist?
He knows he now has power over his rivals. And the ability to dictate any future government policy. It's now a case of 'who needs who the most', if the Conservatives or Labour want to govern. If either party don't play ball with him at any time, or change policy, all he has to do is change his alliance, and it's all change at Downing Street!
The Lib Dems want reform of the electoral system (Proportional Representation replacing the current 'First past the post'), as well as closer ties to Europe. Two things that would tear the Conservatives apart.
And those aren't up for negotiation.
So I can see there being a Lib-Lab Pact on the cards. Good. As long as Cameron doesn't get into No. 10.

"I only need 1 point to refute this:
1.Clegg, in charge of the whole country for all eternity would be less dangerous than 5 years under the control of the BNP."
Unlike my new MP Karl Turner (Hull East, Labour) who was born in the city he ran for office in, the BNP's Nick Griffin isn't local to the Barking & Dagenham seat he ran for. And yet, he dares to tell certain people to 'go back where they came from'*?! He wonders why he FAILED to win? (and there's already rumblings in the BNP that he'll be kicked out for his party doing so poorly this time).
As with fundies, a definite case of Hypocrisy**, thy name is Nazi indeed.
*- And Hitler was an immigrant from Austria. Go figure. But I guess it's okay when you're white, eh Nick? [/sarcasm]
**- The BNP were caught out, despite their policy of creating 'British jobs for British people', when it was revealed that most of their merchandise available was actually made in Honduras.
