(Carter also went forward with the development and production of improved . . . As for giving away the Panama Canal, have US ships ever not been able to use the Canal?)
So we can use the Panana canal. Big deal. Giving it away along with dumping the Shah encouraged Soviet expansionism in Central American and Afghanistan--the latter of which spawned Al Qaeda.
Carter gutted the CIA and FBI counterintelligence. Over 2,000 agents were purged. KGB generals could not believe their good fortune. European intelligence agencies seriously considered that Carter was a Soviet mole. The Carter/Church/Democratic Congress destruction of U.S. Intel was directly responsible for the USA not being able to stop the 9/11 raid on New York City.

Oh, here was me thinking it was because you voted for a two faced, lazy, hypocritical lummock who went bass fishing instead of working.
"KGB generals could not believe their good fortune. European intelligence agencies seriously considered that Carter was a Soviet mole."
Because you're so intimately familiar with the thoughts of the KGB and European intelligence? Anyway, I thought Carter was an evangelical Baptist. Are you too fundie for Carter now?
So, even if Russia is no longer communist, if they gave away what it was godly right to the Panamanians and September 11 is rising due to the nonchalance after the end of the cold war, are the doves to blame?. Worst theory explained.
So, it's not blame Clinton anymore, now it's blame Carter. Excuse me, but weren't there two republican presidents separating these two?
Prager: Correct, Ronald Reagan and Bush the First. And Reagan was elected to two terms, so that amounts to three Republican administrations back to back for 12 full years after Carter -- plenty of time to undo any so-called "damage" Carter might have done. Voegelin is full of it.

Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi was a brutal dictator whose only redeeming quality, from the American administration's point of view, was that he was friendly to the USA.
SAVAK, the secret police force he established, with the help of the CIA and MOSSAD, detained, tortured, and executed thousands of political dissidents.
Had the United States kept it's nose out of Middle Eastern politics to begin with, there likely wouldn't have been a hostage crisis in Tehran for Carter to deal with. There might not even have been a 9/11. We'll never know.
Learn your fucking history before you spout off, idiot.
Carter gutted the CIA and FBI counterintelligence. Over 2,000 agents were purged.
Assuming this is true, if it was such a bad idea, did Reagan put them back?
Supposing this is all true, which I seriously doubt, why didn't Reagan or George H.W. Bush do anything to fix it? Oh, that's right, they were too busy fucking over the country in their own way, and pissing off the Middle East. And if George W. Bush is so great, why did he just sit on his ass after he was told that Al-Qaeda was a threat?
Al Qaeda didn't start up because of Soviet expansion in Afganistan, fuckwit. The United States funded Al Qaeda, hoping they'd fight off the Soviets. Repeat after me: The United States gave money and weapons to Al Qaeda.
You also seem to have fallen for Republican propaganda saying that Democrats are soft on security. Suggesting that Carter was responsible for 9/11 is a bit of a stretch. Try looking at more recent times. Bill Clinton spent his entire eight years in office searching for Osama bin Laden, and handed his results to Bush. Bush ignored it for nine months until September 11th, and continued to ignore it for seven minutes after the second plane hit. Afterwards, he made a show of attacking Afganistan and searching for Al Qaeda, but didn't put any real effort into it. Shortly afterwards, he released the "new" plan to attack Iraq. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, but Bush had always wanted to attack them and simply needed a convenient rationalization.
If you want to know why I vote Democratic, just look at the scandals that have affected both parties.
Democrats:
The Monica Lewinski affair.
Republicans:
Watergate
Iran-Contra scandal
Iraq fiasco and lying to get the country into war.
Illegal spying
Torture
In addition to the major scandals, you can also factor in tax cuts for the rich, and the fact that Republicans were the party of segregation, the party of McCarthy, and have generally opposed all progressive measures and advances since Lincoln died.
Confused?
