Reading the Bible is probably the primary reason for people losing their faith. Once they actually look at all that bullshit, the rest falls apart pretty quickly.
Actually I think the #1 reason people lose their faith is because of heartless, hateful, sickening people who claim to be believers in Christ. I don't think the bible has that much to do with it. Most people hate christianity because of HIS followers.
Being gay is, probably among others, partly genetic and partially caused in the womb by external factors. God made us so that we could be gay and god is an asshole.
Actually, there is dispute over "to what extent" genetics plays a role in sexuality; nonetheless, it is no dispute that sexuality is NOT a choice; I do not choose to be straight any more than Elton chooses to be gay.
Assuming all that story is true, I think that the fact that god himself destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah is actually proof that being gay is not a bad thing in the eyes of him nowadays . Maybe being gay 3000 years ago was bad for him, but the fact that he hasn't destroyed cities like San Francisco, for example, is proof enough that he has changed his mind about the subject.
