People may disagree with what Phelps and his Church preach, yet they too are Christians.
They have accepted Jesus as their savior, they will ascend to heaven upon their death.
Just as Falwell.
Let's not forget.
Christians should not be judging other Christians.

1. This is actually rather sensible for the most part. I have a tiny disagreement with it (due to the SKY HIGH likelihood of Phelps being a wolf in sheep's clothing), but it's up to God to decide if that complaint is valid, not me.
Do keep in mind that there ARE people who pretend to be Christians, and yet aren't, but again, that's for God to decide.
I thought that Jesus was clear that you can´t say oh lord oh lord, and not fulfill his will. Worse, that you shall not judge, yes, EVERYBODY, not just other Christians. And thanks for reminding us that some Christians consider that just because you're a Christian, you can get away with whatever you want.
Mixed feelings on this one. Fundies are so ridiculously judgemental that it's good to hear of christians who try not to be. On the other hand, horrible hateful people like Phelps (and other intolerable hateophils) should not be tolerated and given a free pass just because they call themselves christians. People should not be so "open minded" as to let their brains fall out.
"Christians should not be judging other Christians ..."
... unless you're a independent fundamentalist Baptist posting on Teens-for-Christ. Then you can judge those Mary-worshiping, Rome-hugging papists and their Protestant offshoots all you want, 'cuz they're not really Christians.
"People may disagree with what Phelps and his Church preach, yet they too are Christians."
Perhaps what you meant was "They are TOO Christian."
"They have accepted Jesus as their savior, they will ascend to heaven upon their death."
They have accepted Jesus and will rot in the ground as will the rest of us upon death.
"Just as Falwell."
Give him a few days and he'll be rotting.
"Let's not forget.

Should Christians be judging anyone? I don't remember the Bible saying "Don't judge other Christians, but judge all those other people."
This guy doesn't seem like a fudamentalist to me either, as he's trying to actually practice what Jesus preached.
Although I'm sure it's much easier to judge other Christians now than it used to be, considering how they are no longer a tiny persecuted offshoot of Judaism.
If i have a choice between eternity with Phelps and Falwell or Hell, the second one is looking distinctly more appealing...
@ NonProphet: Life, The Universe, and Everything ?
So since I'm a Christian, I am officialy exempt from criticism from other Christians? Cool!
Oh, wait. I forgot. Since I'm a liberal, in fundie land I wouldn't be a real "Christian" would I? Interesting how you say that Christians shouldn't criticize other Christians, and then criticize anyone you like by claiming they aren't actually a Christian.

At least he doesn't use the "No True Scotsman" fallacy. Gotta give him credit for that.
No TRUE Christian would use the No True Scotsman fallacy!
Pfft. The Bible says one will know a tree by its fruit. It is obvious to me that Phelps' fruit is bitter and not Godly, since all it produces is hatred and bigotry.
At least, that's the way I'd figure a Christian ought to look at it. But we know what biblical cherry-pickers these fundies are.
I concur: if that kind of evil bastard goes to Heaven, then it ain't where I want to be.
First off, when has that ever stopped anyone from judging anyone? Or am I incorrect in thinking that snark was invented in the midst of church politics? (Okay, probably, but it seems it.)
Second, when you get right down to it, it's a control mechanism, just like when they tell congregations with corrupt pastors to "pray on it". Nothing happens, the corrupt pastor keeps stealing from the plate/having sex with married women/having sex with teenage boys/etc, and the control meme remains in place. It's tolerance, turned inside out -- well intentioned, but ridiculously easy to abuse in a society that's already conditioned not to ask too many questions.
Actually, I agree. It's bullshit when Christians pull "not a true Christian." Just because someone claims your religion and does something you don't like, it doesn't make them not a member of your religion.
I honestly wish more Christians would take this one to heart.
Confused?
