Apparently about 600 people have got bird flu and 60% of them (or about 360 people) have died. Most people caught it from birds, although one person got it from a cow. At this point, it doesn’t look like it’s easy for the virus to pass from human to human, but if it ever does gain this ability while retaining its mortality rate, then society will be permanently changed - and after the change, no-one’s going to remember or care about Liz Wheeler apart from her surviving family and friends.
