According to the video it has been alleged that the Master of the Universe director came out and said Skeletor is evil due to "toxic masculinity"....

Skeletor much like characters such as the Joker are suppose to be the mirror to the hero... where He-Man is lawful good. Skeletor is chaotic evil. He doesn't care who gets hurt. Who lives who dies. Its about his personal power and desires. Phaeton throughout the war was lawful evil... the destiny of the Neo Sapiens, justice as the Terrans were the architects of their own destruction, peace, order but as he descended into madness he revealed to Livia near the end of the war there was no Neo Sapien Order, no destiny there was only his power.

Its just annoying you can't have villains who are just evil....

Remember there was a Marvel villain named Man-Killer but that character is now problematic because:

Man-Killer's history has largely seen her portrayed her as an offensive stereotype of lesbians and feminists, with her name and attitude towards men, and her appearance, aggression, and temper all playing into harmful caricatures of 'butch' lesbian women.

But you can have toxic masculinity for example even though this is a more comedic:

I’d have thought Skeletor was Lawful Evil. He runs a tight ship. LE doesn’t necessarily follow other people’s laws, but he does obey his own rules.
You’re just saying CE to BE opposite of He-Man.

Marvel is not perfect at creating woke characters.

…and he who was Scorpio in the first of that franchise played JFK in a “Twilight Zone” episode. And was the Cardassian he played in “Star Trek: Deep Space 9″ a villain?

…which goes right back to Deadpool, as she’s now DC’s equivalent of that one by Marvel: is that chaotic character an example of Toxic Masculinity…?!

I’m going to agree on one point, though almost certainly not for the reason OP might expect. Which is: “Skeletor is evil because toxic masculinity”, assuming that this is indeed what the Director or anyone involved with the production in a major way actually intended, is a total cop-out.

There is definitely space in fictional media for a character to behave in problematic ways due to toxic masculinity, but are not purposefully malicious, including those who are genuinely trying to be better. So long, anyway, as it’s acknowledged or at least implied that they are definitely problematic. It’s not the sort of thing which inherently leads to evil, even if such views and behaviors tend to be damaging to both the person holding them and those around them. Toxic masculinity might have some narrative relevance to a villain’s descent into evil, but leaning into it as the primary or sole cause strikes me as lazy hackwork.

Mustache-twirling cartoon villains might sometimes have bizarre motivations, but that’s because their primary cause for being a villain is that they’re a sociopathic idiot, rather than the motivations themselves.
