{longer post}
This is a bit more thoughtful than the typical TERF post on this issue (which is an EXTREMELY low bar, but nevertheless)… so it deserves a proper response.

Men have breasts yes, but the breast tissue is not as developed compared to a woman. If you have to induce both the growth of the breast tissue along with the production of milk with massive amounts of hormones and other medicine can you really say that it’s healthy and safe?
Yes I can.
Honey, what “massive amount of hormones” are you talking about??
Do you have any idea what sort of dosages of estrogen (and sometimes progesterone, etc.) we trans women are typically given or take?
They are decidedly not large dosages. In fact, if anything, they tend to be a bit on the low end, especially early on in our transition.
Breast growth doesn’t require “massive” (scare quotes intended!) doses of hormones! Especially if you’ve done an orchiectomy (testicle removal), in which case you don’t even need to suppress testosterone.
As for stimulating the production of milk with these OMG MASSIVE doses of hormones… lol, no. We don’t need any more than a cis woman who is inducing lactation.
Um, you do know that cis women sometimes induce the production of milk, right? You are that much informed, I hope?
Oh, oh! By the way! Speaking of actual MASSIVE DOSES of hormones!
Are you aware of just how high a cis woman’s sex hormone levels go during pregnancy? Especially during the last trimester?
I could have actually gotten a little pale when I found out. And I can tell you, as a trans woman, my reaction to it was basically “My god… how do any of these women survive pregnancy?!” I was shocked and kind of worried for their sake.
Look it up sometime, seriously. The hormone levels there are so insane that a trans woman would probably have a heart attack from fear if she saw those as a result of her regular bloodwork test, heh.
Oh, and… this all happens while there’s a developing child in the woman’s womb. These absolutely massive hormone levels, with spikes too.
Where are the studies showing that the milk produced by a transwoman is sufficient and healthy for a child? Is it really ethical?
Um, where were those studies a hundred years ago for cis women? yet they breastfed, and it was generally safe and good for the child.
Look, we’re talking about human milk. Women and men (or “men”, as in trans women) are not a separate species. We have only one mechanism to make human milk, and we share it. If the breasts develop enough to make a decent amount of milk, then you have… milk. Simple as that.
The study they love citing is based on a group made up of women who were not pregnant, trans identified females and trans identified males.
Yes, and?
If the study involved comparing us trans women to cis women who were inducing lactation (since, as you say, they had not been pregnant), then that’s actually the PERFECT study, because we have to induce too.
And if it’s safe for cis women to induce and breastfeed, there’s no reason why it would be unsafe or dangerous for a trans woman to do the same, using the same method of inducing.
Woman who can’t produce milk are simply told to give formula
I mean, yeah. If they CAN’T produce, that’s all they have as an option, unless there’s a human milk bank available nearby. What else would they do, other than perhaps hire a wet nurse?
and even women who breastfeed have to stick to a specific diet.
And trans women are the exception to that… how?
I don’t see the point of supporting this abomination just for the sake of “gender euphoria”.
Then do it for the sake of a child getting to be nourished with breast milk. I’ll ignore the ridiculous “abomination” bit.
The funny thing is that if they ever manage to normalize this they’ll immediately want something else, menstruation , giving birth etc. they’ll never be satisfied , because they’re chasing something unattainable.
Um, I already want those things. As do many other trans women. And yes, it is currently unattainable and will remain so perhaps indefinitely.
But it’s not because of chasing some thrill of the unattainable, of some bloody sexual fetish.
It’s because I have the very normal yearning to carry a child, nourish them, and help them grow and make their way into this world. Just like so many other women. Like any cis woman who desires the same.
And it really is that simple.
