Are we all Muurs/Moors?

There have been grave misconceptions about the terms Muurs and Moors. Primarily, the words can be interchangeable at times but the confusion, unfortunately, has been traced back to the founder of the Moorish Science Temple of America, Noble Drew Ali, who claimed that Moors were descendants of Moabites, limiting the word to a certain group of people with a certain lineage. In fact, not only has the word, “Moor” been in use far before the birth of Noble Drew Ali or the founding of the MSTA, No one has associated the word with the Moabites before. Many of our brothers and sisters who are conscious of the truth that we are aboriginals to this land, and the first Americans, reject the identity of being a Muur/ Moor because they believe the term is only identifies one with the ideology and doctrines of the Moorish Science Temple of America (MSTA) and other related Moorish groups.

Moor/ Muur Etymology

“Moor” is derived from the word, “Muur,” which has derivatives in virtually all languages on the planet. I am in total agreement with the Washitaw Muurs definition of the word, due to my independent research:
