“Sanctuary cities” have lower crime rates than their Republican neighbours who make excuses to shake down every brown person walking on the street on suspicion of being “illegals” while “gun sanctuaries” like Alaska have an alarmingly high rate of gun violence. Republican stunts to frustrate and overstress individual cities by dumping entire states worth of people rounded up (often illegally) in these cities with a pile of false promises and no actual instructions on what they’re actually supposed to do once there haven’t really changed that. It’s just been an administrative headache and they somehow take the demand that the assholes dumping these people off follow clearly laid out rules as some kind of moral victory and evidence of hypocrisy when that doesn’t logically follow.
But you’re too busy rolling out the red carpet for KGB spies and buying off lawmakers whose morals can be found in the bargain bin and concern for ethics or human life only theoretically exist to address things like that. You’re shills for products that REQUIRE fear and violence to permeate the public consciousness to make a sale, when crime rates go up you quietly smile to yourselves and rake in extra cash while your silent foreign partners get ready to leverage the shift in politics and public perception against your country.
So… I’m not sure if you’ve ever been to Denver, Tomi, but… it’s been a place where undocumented immigrants have been coming for a long time. And I know that when you say “illegals”, it’s code for people coming from south of the border regardless of immigration status”. Because if you actually knew anything about Denver you’d know that while there are quite a few people from south of the US border, a lot of the undocumented immigrants are white - it has a huge population of Eastern Europeans, some of whom are undocumented. How do I know this? I happen to live very close to Denver and as a Russian speaker with Russian heritage I’m actually a part of the community, and I know these people.
I also know that the “illegals” you speak of aren’t evil. They do a lot of the city’s construction work, trash collection, landscaping, etc. They don’t commit any more crime than the rest of the population.
You want me to tell you about a shithole? Try where you’re from, Rapid City, SD. How do I know it’s a shithole with some of the worst poverty and worst race relations in the country? I’m from there. You probably stayed in the white parts of town because you’re scared shitless you might meet a resident of Pine Ridge. But the town is run down, has no services, the businesses got shut down because of the fucking Walmart and Target, and there’s almost nothing to do other than go to those places. You’re a hypocrite and you’ve been that way since at least high school.
