I mean, the israeli government knew about the attacks before they were launched and didn't even try to stop them. Is it much of a stretch to suggest they killed their own people?

Or you are just making up a conspiracy theory to make Israel into an even worse government then it already is without any evidence to support it while also trying to swift the blame for October 7th to Israel rather then the people who did it.

How do you know what information the Israeli government had before October 7, 2023?

Hamas several times admitted the October 7 attack. No need to invent things against Netanyahu cabinet, there’s already enough real causes against it without claiming that they ordered Israeli citizens murdered this day.

I'd argue though that the retaliation against Gaza will embolden further terrorist attacks.

There have been several serious testimonies that Netanyahu had been warned that Hamas was preparing an attack. There is also the fact that the Israeli government issued the so-called Hannibal directive, which allowed soldiers to kill Israeli citizens. So, while it is presented in a decidedly adversarial light, I do not think that OP is lying, in this particular case.

…the Franklin D. Roosevelt Administration knew about the Japanese plans to attack Pearl Harbor.

…the George Bush jr Administration knew about the plans for the 9/11 attacks.

But neither administration tried to stop the attacks, to get an excuse to go to war.
