You fail population genetics forever. It is impossible for recessive alleles (not genes!) to be "bread (sic) out of existence" even with mutations causing bloody devastating congenital diseases that will not let you live to adulthood - the mutation will always survive in heterozygous carriers (and according to my mother, at least rural people were definitively aware that certain families suffered from heritable health problems long before modern genetics).
