[Regarding Obama's decision to have an openly gay Bishop at his inauguration ceremony.]

This is only the beginning of what we will get with Barack Hussein (we can say that now) Obama. Barack is perverted in a large way. Between homosexuals and abortion this country will take a turn for the worst.

[Regarding Obama becoming president.]

Depends...I certainly hope he fails at pushing his socialist agenda. But I doubt it. I hope he fails to set the stage for more unborn children to be slaughtered at the alter of socialism. But I doubt it. Based on his campaign promises there is no possibility that he will be the best President we have ever had. It just will not happen.

[re: Barack Obama to be sworn in as President on Abraham Lincoln's bible.]

And no doubt Obama will carry on Lincoln's legacy by finishing what Lincoln started - the destruction of the constitution.

Well, that's not really fair because Lincoln actually did finish it off. The only reason it hasn't been replaced is because liberals like to occasionally claim adherence to it when it suits their cause.

By the way, even the staunch Lincoln defender Peter Marshall Jr. admits that Lincoln was not a Christian until, maybe, his third year in office. He had said some critical things about the Bible during his pre-presidential years, and so I guess Obama will indeed walk in Lincoln's shoes when he hypocritically swears in on a book he doesn't believe.

But of course, by the time the historians of the winning side gets done, Obama will be a Saint just like Lincoln.

And just so you'll know I'm an equal-opportunity cynic, Thomas Red-Letter-Bible Jefferson (a good ole southren) was a hypocrite when he put his on the Bible too. But at least Jefferson didn't destroy the constitution that he swore to uphold.

*Pro-life policies likely Obama targets.*

I'm sure they will be, them and many more babies are his target for death.
---
The number of abortions could be reduced also by following Obama's idea of giving birth and then disposing of the baby into the dirty laundry.
---
This issue is upseting to me. It should not even be an issue.

However, we've got what we've got and have to find ways, such as listed above, to help educate. Herein lies another problem, though. I personally do not want the public schools teaching my 9 year old children how to roll a condom on a banana. I think it's the parents' rights and responsibilties to educate their own children in whatever means they see fit. Unfortunately, though, some will never be told anything, if that were the case. It's sad, truly.

Another thing I take issue with is that none of us can agree on when life begins anyway. Right here on this board you might find that some believe it begins at conception and will use no chemical birth control to harm that. Others will say that it begins at implantation, so all birth control methods are an option. Others may even say that life begins at viablility, which is changing everyday with the advances in medical science. Others may say it begins at birth. Some say life begins at 21 (j/k). None of us, even among Christians (among Baptists, even), agree on when life begins, so how could we even begin to unite and find an alternative to abortion, outside abstinence?
This is a matter that requires fervent prayer!

[. . .] I find it ironic that darwinians are now backing off of evolution and pointing to a greater intelligence. Instead of pointing to God...they are pointing to intelligence on other planets. Who put that intelligence there? They say darwinianism started there...but no proof whatsoever...just empty faith.

The truth about the mentally ill is it IS a sin complication; not that it is a direct result of ones personal sin, which it can very well be, but it is a general result of sin altogether.

Sometimes it is demonic in origen, sometimes it is due to physical imperfections in the cerebial cortex.

[Thread entitled 'Fundamentally dealing with suicide threats']

I think I can sum up the solution in one word.
Of course this one word is a pretty powerful one.

Gospel.
Yep The Gospel is the answer.

Is the threat of suicide sin? Yes.
Is the threat of suicide selfish? Yes
Does it disregard God's sovereignty? Yes
Does it violate the image of God? Yes
Does Christ's blood cover ALL of these sins? Yes!

This is the answer, not secular counseling.

I believe both the honesty about the sinfulness of the situation and the compassion and the love of Christ are both needed.

Unfortunately, with at least two states that have legalized homosexual marriages, other states are bound to follow. They won't want to seem unloving and prejudicial. I've been called prejudiced because of my stand against homosexuality. If I'm prejudiced then so is God, for He has said in His word that men with men and women with women is not natural. Rom. 1:27

Allowing these perverts to adopt children or even to keep their own is definitely child abuse. It confuses them and warps their innocent minds. They're rejected by peers who have a real mother and father, instead of two mothers or two fathers.

John of Japan #fundie baptistboard.com

I have no respect whatever for the so-called "Buddha." As your quote notes he left his wife and family. He was also very arrogant, as can be seen from his "writings," which by the way were not set down by his devotees until over 200 years later--though the Gospels were written by direct disciples and contemporaries of Jesus Christ.

I have talked to literally hundreds of Buddhists, and I have to say that Buddhism is a terrible religion. Never mind the public image of that old fake, the Dalai Lama. Buddhists have no inner peace, they do not obey the teachings of "the Buddha" about not lusting (Buddhist countries are terrible about prostitution), they have caused many wars (contrary to Bible-believers, though false Christians have been known to start wars). Buddhists priests in Japan are known to be money-grubbers, requiring many expensive ceremonies.

I could go on and on, but have work to do to try to win Buddhists to Jesus Christ.

Thinkingstuff #fundie baptistboard.com

I don't think days in the bible were 24 hour periods necissarily. Remember God distinguishes the day and night senario by saying "there was light and then there was darkness the 1st day" ect... Light and dark over playing each other. Now when God created the universe he created gravety (we still don't understand thins). Scientist believed that mass alone causes gravety. However, recent imagining of the universe shows "pools" of gravety before mass settled there. Also there is this thing called in flation after the big bang where matter for a time traveled faster than the speed of light. Einstine would say that was impossible. We don't have all the answers but I don't think it is what you think it is. According to physics the futher away we get from gravety time slows down. Think on that! We are still making discoveries. Jews didn't understand messiah either. When he came he blew their theology out of the water. Don't be so dogmatic! That's what the Jews were doing. It is kind of like apocalyptic literature. These things happen and will happen but not necissarily the way we've come to believe. Moses wasn't there at the begining and relied on Oral tradition. So it may be like the apocalyptic literature. Full of things not understandable by transmition but passed on none the less. Remember the garden of Eden. Northern Plateau with mountains on three sides a river running through it and falling (water fall?) below the plateau? Could have been exactly like that but it could be symbolic explaining something to the writers and us about it. Apocalyptic literature always uses these kinds of imagry. Six days yes but not necissarily 24 hour days. Light then dark yes.

Tiny now your bording on the absurd, what's up?

Seriously it seems you need ti get your head in gear. The Sun stood still in relation to it's normal obsreable movent in the sky. The sun rises and sets and if it stops midway it stands still based upon it's movements relating to the rising and setting. It has nothing to do with the specifics of each planetary revolutions or any other scientic notion. The Bible states the Sun stopped moving (or stood still) and nothing beyond that.

Yes, it is to be taken quite and specifically literal or at face value. It is not a myth nor a fairy-tale nor an amalomation of other religious writtings. - The Sun stood still on that day.

Bob Dudley #fundie baptistboard.com

Of course the world was made in 6 literal days. After all, that IS what it says in Genesis. Moses believed it was 6 literal days and Adam (who probably wrote the book that Moses edited to get that part of Genesis) believed in 6 literal days. Jesus and Paul believed in a literal Adam and Eve and (by extension) believed in a literal 6 days of creation. The geologic record seems to indicate a 6 literal days of creation and a global flood.

I guess what I don't get is why people have such a hard time taking the Bible at face value. Especially since the Bible says 6 literal days and all the scinetific evidence fits a young earth model much better than an evolutionary model.

The nation's foundation is the Family unit. Divorce is but one enemy of marriage and the others are the gay and lesbian lifestyle and the educational system.

One is and always will be, fought on the home level, divorce.

Sense there seems to be a concerted effort to make a God forbidden lifestyle law, it is not the Church that has drew the line of battle in the federal realm but the gay community. It is our duty as believers to meat the enemy at the battle front or let the enemy overrun our bulwarks (homes). Sense it is in the Courts, State Legislature and Congress then so be it, the battle must be met.

The Educational system continues to undermine the family with its glaring, free sex education, anti God, anti creation and pro socialist indoctrination.

We indeed have a three front assault on the traditional Biblical one man one woman family in this nation and we must fight it on all three levels. Do not lay your armor down my bothers and sisters, the battle is for our children.

Steve is telling the truth. There are plenty of professional drillers in these hills who swear by dowsing rods -- men of intelligence, experience, sobriety....and not of God. That is the telling point, and one Randi would never be able to deal with. That is why Steve said that this happened before he became a Christian.

What Randi is skilled at doing is exposing human-caused deceit. He knows nothing about demonically-caused deceit because he is so heavily under its influence.

*about the musical Wicked*

Since it's a musical, I will post it here. I would advise everyone, as Christians, not to take your children to this. For those who don't know, it's about how the Wicked Witch of the West, in Wicked named Elphiba, eventually became evil and went against the Wizard. I went and saw this yesterday, and was horrified. I've always liked the Wizard of Oz because the Witch, who was evil and used witchcraft, was defeated by a little girl who didn't have any evil powers, at all. Remember, even "good magic" is bad. Even the Wizard uses no powers, and is just a man. But in Wicked, they make this Elphiba out to be good natured and not really evil deep down, because the Wizard just wanted to use her. It teaches children that this witch is good, even though she uses witchcraft. Just a heads up.

If Obama is truly a believer in Jesus, and has made Him Lord of his life, why does he maintain his ties to the Muslim Faith by retaining his Muslim name. I mean, even Saul changed his name to Paul after his conversion, and others throughout the Old and New Testament were renamed by God after they came face-to-face with Him.

In order to bring a few more thoughts into this discussion let me explain that in the 1960s both Abortion and Sodomy were legalised. About that time we had a serious outbreak of Foot and Mouth disease; we then had nearly 30 years of IRA terrorism; when this died down we had another Foot and Mouth epidemic. Once that passed we had Al Qaeda and 7/7. I cannot help thinking that GOd has permitted these calamities as a judgement on the UK. If that is the case then we are in for a terrible time; I have this awful sense of foreboding that a catastrophe is about to strike in this country.

Millions of Christians believe in two covenants, one for the Gentiles and one for the Jews. They, therefore, believe in two means of salvation. One through faith in Christ and the other by lineage.

Is there any other nation who collectively asserts that Christ was a lying, bastard son of Mary, that millions of Christians assert to be the "apple of God's eye?" In every way Judaism is the enemy of Christian faith, yet it is esteemed by many to be the special beneficiaries of the blessings of God.

A very dangerous enemy indeed.

I tell you what. I, for one, can't wait until Jesus comes back to rule with a rod of iron for 1000 years as King of Kings, seated on the throne of David. I just can't wait. He will be a just and righteous King and every knee will and shall bow. No more man made laws. No more political correctness. No more sickos reinventing everything to suit their own selfish purposes. No more New Age teachings, no more Buddhist beads, no more Quran, no more wiccans, no more communists, no more war lords, no more drug lords, no more terrorists, no more murderers, adulterers, sexual perverts. No more atheists, no more ACLU, no more baby killers. No more wicked judges and legislators. The list of perversions, sorceries, idolatries, corrupt governments, and oppressions will be over. Wickedness will be a thing of the past for 1000 years. No more griping over the posting of the 10C in public places. It will really be 'In God We Trust.' What a wonderful time that will be. No more every person doing what is just in their own eyes. No more propaganda. It will just following the letter of the law, of Jesus' law. I can't wait. I can't wait for the Theocracy of Jesus. Even so, Come, Lord Jesus.

Harry Potter is a religious film also. It is a fictional representation of almost every major tenet of the Wiccan religion. In our Neo-pagan Government school system, the rebellion of witchcraft is about the only allowed religious teaching, aside from Islam perhaps.

There is one person, in my eyes, mainly responsible for Mathew's death and that is himself. He led a reckless lifestyle and in the end he got caught... If Mathew would have conducted his life in a more responsible manner maybe he could have lived long enough for someone to reach out and wittness to him and yes, maybe he could have accepted Christ into his heart. That is the real tragedy as I see it.

There are dynamics at play here. Everyone plays a part. If you get the picture from one side, you are getting a very distorted view. I will have to agree with Dr. Bob on this one. Shepherd was a sodomite; he was seeking out partners. Gee, if the shoe fits, wear it. Part of the effect that the sodomite agenda is having is that it is causing Christians to shy away from calling sodomy a perverted sin.
