A bill proposing that homosexuality be banned in Iraq has been submitted to its parliament

It was presented by Mortada Al-Saadi, the Deputy Head of the Committee on Legal Affairs in Baghdad’s federal parliament, who officially submitted it to the Speaker of the Iraqi parliament

Delivered on 3 July, Al-Saadi’s letter asks that the bill be included in the upcoming legislative agenda, which is currently scheduled for September

The bill’s introduction follows Muqtada al-Sadr, the head of the nationalist Sadrist movement, announcing plans to rally support for a ban on homosexuality from Iraqi citizens, the independent Erbil-based news agency Basnews reported

He has also called on educational institutions to spread awareness about his efforts to implement such a ban

Iraq does not currently explicitly prohibit same-sex activity, though certain items in the 1969 Penal Code are used to criminalise members of the LGBTQ+ community

James Hawley has issued an apology for his recent anti-LGBTQ+ comments.

Earlier this week, the professional boxer responded to a comment asking whether he supports the community on his now-deleted TikTok account.

“I a thousand and million per cent do not agree with this, no,” he said in the video. “Listen, I can understand girls get with each other all the time at parties and things like that. I don’t care. It’s not a problem. I’d want ’em to get with each other in front of me, but boys on the other hand and transgenders… Something seriously wrong with you.

“What on Earth makes you want to change your gender and get f****d in the arse? What is up with you dirty c***s? I feel sorry for your families.”

Hawley’s vile tirade went viral on Twitter after Drag Race UK star Baga Chipz shared it with her followers, calling him “homophobic filth” and an “absolute piece of dirt”. Points were made.

Following widespread backlash on social media, MTK Global – “the world’s foremost boxer management company” – dropped him as a client.

“The management team have made the decision to terminate Mr Hawley’s contract with MTK Global with immediate effect and will no longer be representing him in any format,” they wrote in a statement.

The Kuwaiti academic Dr. Mariam Al-Sohel has claimed to have discovered a cure for homosexuality which involves suppositories. However, what’s more interesting is how she believes homosexuality actually comes about.

Appearing on Scope TV to talk about her discovery, Dr. Mariam explained how the ‘medicine’ works. “I discovered therapeutic suppositories that curb the sexual urges of boys of the third gender,” she said. “As well as the fourth gender, which is butch lesbians.”

According to Dr. Mariam the third gender is feminine gay men.

But just to make sure we all knew she was serious, she added: “This is all science, so there’s nothing to be ashamed of.”

Speaking about how homosexuality comes about, she said: “The sexual urge develops when a person is sexually attacked. And afterwards it persists because there is an anal worm that feeds on semen. It feeds on sperm.”

She explained how the ‘medicine’ helps, saying: “So what I did was to produce suppositories, which are to be used by certain people at a certain time. It cures those urges by exterminating the worm that feeds on sperm.”

Dr. Mariam claims to have invented two different suppositories to this effect, but the only difference between them is their colouring. Diet was also important for this ‘treatment’ to work, and feminine gay men were advised to eat bitter foods.

“Any food that is buried underground provides men with stability, strengthens their muscles and increases their masculinity,” she explained, adding: “Bitter foods increase masculinity.”
