I want to have control over what goes in my son's head, not what's put in there by people who might be on the far left who have their own ideas about indoctrinating kids

This is what my mom told me the first time I complained too much about my problems:"dear, I can advice you, help you, comfort you, BUT I can't be yourself in your behalf".
I want my son to have control over what goes in his own head, not what's put in there by people who might be on some extreme or other who have their own ideas about indoctrinating kids. That's why I have ensured that he has developed critical thinking skills and has been exposed to a wide variety of viewpoints.
Fixed.
And I want to control my life and remove all fundies and their religion from it. But, since I live in a free country, I cannot do that. Neither can you. Face it, eventually your son is going to become an adult and he will not be under your control. It would be pretty sad if he could recite the bible but lacked any common sense, intelligence or ability to deal with other people.
I'd prefer it if my family never had to hear about your god or your religion, but I don't get a choice in that. Why should you have a choice?
Newsflash: From an international point of view, you don't even HAVE a far left wing in the US.
I mean, most countries in Europe have prominent SOCIALIST parties.

Then I wouldn't suggest raising him Catholic. Boom boom!
That was just grotesque, i'm so sorry everyone.
Otherwise, he might wind up smarter than you, with a better job than you, a house instead of a trailer to live in, and rejecting offers to join the KKK.
Go fuck yourself with a dull kitchen knife.
I agree. The worst possible scenario involves Greg's son being "indoctrinated" to treat other people as friends, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, etc. That is the major threat to knee-jerk whitebread tribalism.
@ Freboy:
When most Americans talk about the left wing, what they actually mean is 'not quite as right-wing as the other guy'. Goes double for fundies. =P
(Note, I said 'most', not 'all'.)

And the fundies show their true colours. They want nothing less than their own theocracy. Talibangelists indeed.

As opposed to... what? a right-winger like Becky Fischer who has her own ideas about indoctrinating kids? The documentary film "Jesus Camp" is the reason why the Religious Right should be banned in America. Or anywhere in the world.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
