My anterior cingulate cortex has received the actylcholine released by the propagated membrane depolarisation caused by the sensory input of your argument and compared it with the similar chemical signal caused by the amygdala reacting to the familiar concepts contained in that sensory input and activating the neurons in my brain that encode the patterns laid down by previous exposure to those and related concepts.
The conflict between the two signals has been resolved in favour of the much stronger signal produced by many coherent impressions received from repeated exposure to actual neurophysiology once a long time ago.
