"You may acquire male and female slaves from the pagan nations that are around you" -- and quoted I Timothy 6:1 as saying slaves should "regard their own masters as worthy of all honor."
"The incidence of abuse, rape, broken homes and murder are 100 times greater, today, in the housing projects than they ever were on the slave plantations in the Old South," he wrote. "The truth is that nowhere on the face of the earth, in all of time, were servants better treated or better loved than they were in the Old South by white, black, Hispanic and Indian slave owners."
"The issue is not race," he said. "It's Southern heritage. I'm on a one-man leadership crusade to get the truth out about what our Southern heritage is all about."

I don't care if slaves were fed filet mignon and brandy while sitting next to a cozy fireplace. Owning another human being is just wrong.
It's bad enough we have ordinary idiots claiming that blacks were "better off" as slaves, but now we have an elected official saying it.
*sigh*
Goddammit, South...
There are good parts of Southern heritage, like real ice tea and ice coffee, peaches, collards, and dooryard citrus, gardens full of four o'clocks, and biscuits with sawmill gravy. Slavery isn't any part of that part.

...What?
And, for dessert, peach pie, pecan pie, chess pie, Georgia Brown ice cream, or, for a quickie, cathead biscuits with chocoate gravy (the probable ancestor of the hot fudge brownie). But in great moderation, please. Now that you have to make them yourself instead of delegating them to your kitchen slave, you probably won't eat them oftener than is good for you. (No cheating at Publix).

These types usually compare themselves very favourably with Muslims. So, let's see, quite apart from slavery being disgusting, how many slaves in the Old South became generals and state governors?
100 times? Citation please.
There's also greater population today. Also, in slave plantations? THey (The plantation owners) did rape, murder, broke homes, and abuse the slaves. They just didn't record it as such.

So, Senator Stupid, explain THIS:

How the hell would you know that? There is almost no reliable data on abuse, rape, broken homes and murder rates from the 1700s and 1800s (until the 1880s and 1890s, by which time slavery was pretty much over). Back then crime rates of any kind were estimated by population trend approximations. The government kept nowhere near as extensive records on these rates in the late 19th century and didn't start doing so until around the 1950s and 60s. Crime rates today are more than 40% lower than than they were in 1973, so how the fuck is the rate today 100x higher than in slavery times?
There are more broken black homes today in the US? About 50% of black kids are brought up in a home with their biological father, do you realize how often black fathers (and mothers) were sold to different plantations and forcefully separated from their children in slavery? Often times in plantation FAR AWAY IN OTHER STATES?
Get fucked, sir.
"The truth is that nowhere on the face of the earth, in all of time, were servants better treated or better loved than they were in the Old South by white, black, Hispanic and Indian slave owners."
Ok, so the servants were loved and treated well...
NOW WHAT ABOUT THE FUCKING SLAVES?!?!?
Confused?
