[Reacting to the mistreatment of the American Indians by white settlers]

Well, maybe the Indians plight would not of been, if they had not been pagans. I don't know, but it could of been God's way of letting the Ameican Indians know that they were worshipping the wrong God, and that there is only one God, the great I AM.

Hmm... Well, maybe they might have lived in paradise, with no one suffering. Or maybe life is hard enough without a bunch of shits from Europe coming in and killing people for no good damn reason.

@Detrs: The sentence you are referring to is grammatically correct. You seem to have a problem with the style. And stylistically, it doesn't matter what you think sounds right.

@Hiram: Remember the story of the tower of Babel. It was God who gave people different languages and sent them out to different parts of the world. So actually, it's by God's hands that the Native Americans were where they are believing what they believe - if you believe the Bible, that is. Such backwards thinking. Isn't it?

I use it in 'every' post here, now do I? Well, I might limit it's use a bit so as not to offend your delicate sensibilities, but I quite disagree that it is either LAME, nor that it makes me look 'as big an idiot as the fundies.' I've not even reached the banality of such classics as 'die in a fire' and at the very least, I'm not advocating anybody's death, merely quoting some Warhammer lore.

To sum it up, I'll make an effort not to use it so much, but I'm not giving it up, nor am I impressed with your arguments.

As a Native American myself, I can only say one thing: fuck you.

My, it would have been nice if God, you know, ACTUALLY TOLD US about himself and his son Jesus before getting his panties in a bunch about us not worshipping him! I mean, I wonder how we were supposed to know about Jesus waaaay over here in North America? So, god punished us for something completely not our fault? Nice guy.

Oh, and let's be real. Our plight was caused by diseases we had never before been exposed to, and by the cruelty and imperialism of people who thought we were subhuman. Plain and simple.

If I had lived back then and had to watch (pick one or more from this list): my children and other loved ones die from smallpox, my entire community get kicked off of our lands, my female loved ones get raped or 'taken' as wives against their consent (even if they already had a husband), and possibly myself or people I love getting sold off as slaves, you bet your sweet ass I would have no interest in the "God" worshipped by the people who perpetrated these atrocities.

Most of the Natives who converted did so either under threat, out of fear, after being completely broken in spirit and hope, or because it was the only way to get any mercy. Just like in all the other countries where "Christians" have gone in and screwed over the indigenous population.

I also want to mention that my tribe were NOT pagans (unless Hiram means it in the fundie-favored way of 'anything other than Christian'). Our particular religion was monotheistic. I know this is true of some other tribes as well.

Oh yeah Hiram, also: fuck you.

As a white person, I am disgusted beyond belief at this moron’s complete callousness and blind sense of religious superiority. Christians have been slaughtering and mistreating each other for centuries, you idiot, does that mean that the loser in each conflict was being punished by God for not worshipping Him the right way?

I know it’s been said before, but really, how the heck were the Native Americans supposed to know that they were worshipping “the wrong God” when they didn’t have contact with Europe before the explorers arrived? Yes, letting them be massacred and treated like garbage was really a beneficial way of letting them see the “error of their ways.” Why do fundies always have the need to blame the victim, whether it’s women or American Indians?

I’d recommend that you see “Dances with Wolves” or read "Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee" to strengthen your sensitivity chip if you have one, but I get the feeling that you’re such a self-righteous twit that there would be no point.
