"Based on statistics, there is a 70-to-80 percent chance that a [Christian] child will abandon the church and their faith in a public school career," Moore has told WND. The bottom line, then, is Christian parents need to lobby their pastors, pastors need to lobby their denominations, and their denominations need to start programs creating and operating public schools, he said.
There's also a new organization in California, called California Exodus and operating with the slogan Rescue Your Child, seeking to remove 600,000 children from California's public schools because of that state's mandatory promotion of homosexuality.

Ah, yes, unsourced statistics, fundies' pal. But if that's true, then it says a lot about your church and your faith.

I was raised in Christian schools from K-12. It just took longer to be a 100% abandonment for me.
A very weak faith, that is threatened so much for the most trivial thing. And do they need an organisation Exodus to remove their children from school?. It's the easiest thing in the world!!, just take them out, enroll them in a private school or homeschool them. Or should that organisation be called "education in United States of America for Dummies"?
70-80 percent chance? Well despite the lack of citation for that statistic, if these percentages were true, id say that the public schools are a rather positive experience and id like to know why they're failing to get the other 20-30 percent.

The other 20-30 percent don't wind up in dead-end, minimum wage jobs.

And as soon as you do that, they won't be proper "public schools" anymore, but religious schools. The First Amendment -- and the courts -- say that you don't get to do that unless you privatize them and call them what they are.

RUN AWAY! RUN AWAY!

For the record: I am a gay Christian who is no longer affiliated with any particular church. Why? Jesus and I get along just fine, its other Christians who are nuts.
This quote is fundy because the fundy definition of being "pro-homosexual" means teachers aren't preaching out of Leviticus OR calling the homosexual "lifestyle" immoral and unnatural.
I'd like to hope that 70-80% chance is for real.
Yeah, shame on the public schools for speaking upon and educating kids about homosexuality without any religious bias. Tisk. Obviously what we need is some religious ideology in there.
If those stats are not just imaginary, I only have one thing to say.
Ain't it a bitch when kids become educated and find out what a load of bullshit you have been trying to cram down their throats?
"Based on statistics, there is a 70-to-80 percent chance that a [Christian] child will abandon the church and their faith in a public school career,"
So what? 70 - 80% might have come to their senses between the ages of 5 and 18 even if they were not in public school.

I work in a California public school and can assure you homosexuality is not promoted at all, it's just not demeaned.
keep them ignorant.
and lie
"There's also a new organization in California, called California Exodus and operating with the slogan Rescue Your Child"
Shouldn't that slogan read, "Brainwash Your Child"?
More accurately, 70 to 80% of children will abandon the church and their faith upon being educated. I hope the see the irony of what they are trying to prevent here...
Also: statistic is completely made up and you are just trying to feed your own paranoia to justify keeping your children in a cocoon of ignorance for the duration of their cold, empty lives. But, that's the price of protecting children from the horrors of seeing the world from another point of view...
There's no such thing as a "christian child."
They're just "children" until you indoctrinate them. I'm against some of the crap that goes on in the public schools too, but my beef is that kids don't get prepped for college or learn enough real-world applicable skills. Your concerns for their belief in the imaginary are completely out of place in a venue of learning, anyway.
They need academics, not your witlessing. I mean witnessing . Sorry.
Want to give your christian child a christian education? Pay for that child to go to a school that supports your beliefs.
Public schools are for the public. ALL of the public.
My aunt and uncle were, and still are, major fundies. They had five children. Three of those children are now adults. All three have chosen not to live as their parents did. Two of the three have chosen to remove religion of any form from their lives.
They were all home schooled until high school and attended a so called christian high school associated with their church.
What is to blame for 3/5 of their children abandoning christianity? So far. The other two are still under 18 and don't have a choice yet.
This is getting soooo olde (yes that olde). I'm weary of having my sexuality and, by association, my character vilified. These people need to get a life or at least a hobby. Stop going around all self righteous and full of indignation looking for "sin." If these people did something, anything useful or constructive to bettering their communities or helping the less fortunate I could overlook most of the inane bullshit that oozes from their mouths.
As for "mandatory promotion" of homosexuality. Just remember lying for Jesus is still lying.
I've always wondered about statistics such as these. Are their exit polls at public schools now? Like, "Did you lose your faith and/or abandon your church while attending this school? Y/N." I mean, seriously?
Attending a Christian private school did more to destroy my faith than a public school ever could. Although you never see fundies make up those statistics. Who's to say that 70-80 percent of people won't abandon their parents' religion by the age of 18, irrelevant of any educational situation?
I abandoned the 'faith' long before I was removed from a Xian-run childrens home, and it had nothing to do with the so-called "Homosexual Agenda" taught in schools that they are so fond of citing as the main cause of deviation from their doctrine. Their weak religion couldn't find me a good family so I'm obliged not to support them in their efforts to control the lives of others.
You don't give, you don't get. Simple as.
Unsourced statistics. Using "Rescue Your Child" to mean "Keep Your Child Uneducated."
And a blatant lie about CA and some 'mandatory promotion of homosexuality.'
"Thou shalt not bear false witness" has no meaning for these people, does it?
Speaking as someone who spent maybe 60 percent of her school career in the public schools, and as someone who was beaten up for being an atheist twice during that 60 percent (when I actually wasn't at the time, strangely enough), I think that there's a 70-to-80 percent chance that these statistics are bull.
What mandatory promotion of homosexuality? Tolerance is a very different thing, idiot.
Jeez, sometimes I wish the rapture wasn't a myth for cretins. Getting these idiots off our planet would instantly double the average IQ of the remaining population.
Confused?
