Modern Who is quickly destroying itself. Between the previous two "doctors" being unwanted and the most disliked, and now Tennent, arguably the most popular doctor of the modern generation, destroying himself, the IP is joining Star Wars and Disney, holding on by a thread.

The only problem is Dr. Who has some padding and protection against Get Woke, Go Broke as the BBC survives off of the TV Licenses that UK citizens have to pay for to watch TV (There's a lot more to it than that but in a nutshell it's essentially state funded. A British person can explain it better than I can). It has protections but is not at all immune from Get Woke, Go Broke. Toy and merch sales are plummeting and I've spoken to a few guys, one of whom is an avid Dalek cosplayer who has said he's not going out to any more Who conventions after what's become of the IP in the last decade.

just… how many times are you going to repeat “go woke, go broke” before you realize it often times not true? I mean Star Wars and Disney are doing well and all the things you point to is stuff that’s affecting the industry as a whole and often times conservatives content are doing worse then any supposedly “woke” content, if anything it should be “go conservative, go broke” should be the motto.

Meh. Most of Whittaker's tenure was badly written and directed.
Gatwa's run was much better. Is it perfect? No. But saying that it is worse than, say, an episode with farting aliens running for mayors of Cardiff or one with the moon being an egg, is nonsensical.

I think Dr Who always had its ups and downs, singling out the most recent series is dumb. Whittaker's era had good stories too, it was not all bad all the time. And I don't even know where the OP is getting from that Capaldi was disliked that much, he had a lot of great episodes. On the other hand I find many episodes of Tennant's era pretty bad, but I still like him a lot as the Doctor. Same for all the others. The quality of the writing notwithstanding (it fluctuates), so far I haven't seen one actor of the Doctor who ‘didn't fit’ and brought nothing unique to the table.

THe lognevity of Star Trek disproves it, as well as the X-Men. Most comics, in fact. How many seasons M*A*S*H lasted. How many spin-offs of All In The Family.
