That in the end NOTHING matters, so why should what we do right now matter.

If there is no Afterlife, then everything we do now matters so much more, as this is all we know that we'll have. You should treat other people with respect, kindness and dignity for THEIR sake, not your own. Of course, you also feel good if you treat others well.
Nothing matters.
And what if it did?
Have you heard the story about tide, wise man, starfishes and a little girl?
A wise man was walking on the beach. Tide has had just retreated, and thousands of starfishes were left on the dry sand. Then he saw a little girl, walking on the same beach. Whenever she came near the star, sho would take it and throw it into the water.
Wise man: "Little girl, just what are you doing? Can't you see it's pointless? There are thousands of them, and you can't possibly save them all. Thousands will die! In the end, what you do doesn't matter at all."
A girl took a sea star and gave a long look to the wise man. Then she threw the star into the sea.
"It matters to them." she said, then took another one.
Wise man thought about it for a few seconds, then joined her. After an hour, a villager from the nearby village saw the wise man doing something and decided to copy, and soon the whole village joined them. Together, they saved almost all sea stars, and not one of them knew why.
And that's the reason why what we do right now matters!
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
