I find it ironic that right-wingers fear they will be forced to vote Democrat, when they have been repeatedly caught attempting to disenfranchise liberal and black voters in every way possible, and the reverse is essentially unheard of.
I don't understand why people take a situation which is precisely "giving people options I'm not comfortable with anyone taking" and interpreting it as "once it becomes a thing everyone will be forced into doing it".
Quite a lot of republican-leaning independents are being "forced" (by their conscience) to either vote democrat or stay home, due to their favored party going off the deep end. But for the last few elections at least, republicans were still barely winning despite lower popularity, because the system has been heavily manipulated to favor them. They're projected to do poorly in this year's election due to even lower popularity, and some of the gerrymandering having been undone in 2017. (Though who knows what will actually happen.) That doesn't exactly scream "rational choice".
I thought the whole point of a slippery slope was that once we passed one goal, each succeeding goal would be easier, accepted as normal, less resistance?
This is not a slippery slope response. Conservatives seem to get even more desperate with every progressive change.
When we start legislating that everyone have at least one homosexual and one heterosexual encounter after puberty, so they (and the authoritative 'we') all know exactly where they stand, they're going to be screaming.
Ha, so from what I can tell the OP has searched every gay news website for one article that he could use for his homophobic agenda (obviously by implying the old chestnut "but think of the children!!!"), which is pretty sad in and of itself. And he directly commits a slippery-slope argument after denying that there is one, since the article doesn't state anything about this being put into law (which is a ridiculous notion anyway). Sorry OP, but I don't take advice about "rational voting choices" by someone so irrational like yourself.
