Speechless! What is the world coming to these days? When the most Holy Lord our God wants His personal envoys to help Him indulge in a spot of conquest, you'd think He'd allow a more Biblical approach to the whole shenanigans? I use the "so-called" and the single quotes because most of the things you support have nothing to do with Christianity, if you disagree then kindly show me the Bible verses that condemn gay marriage (not gay sex, but specifically gay marriage) and specifically condemn abortion (For this one, I can find Bible verses where god not only condones abortion but actually commands it!).

"Under Assault" from whom? You can't impose "christian values" from the bench, especially when many of those "values" are antithetical to the constitution, which as a judge you would be swearing an oath to uphold and protect. The judiciary does not hand down, proposed, or enact law and by trying to do so from the bench will result in an endless series of verdicts overturned on appeal at best and being disbarred or even impeached at worst.

No, but we do need a system of ethics that is flexible enough to accommodate different circumstances and adapt as future generations become more enlightened then us. Regardless, ethics change whether you like it or not and certainly what was acceptable 500 years ago (i.e. slavery) is unacceptable now and what was unacceptable before (i.e. women showing too much of their legs) is acceptable now. But if you choose to bury your head in the sand and not acknowledge this simple fact, go ahead.

Because we need a nation where its only unethical if you think it is.

Once, a psychologist gave me a test to see which of a variety of disorders I had. (It turned out to be depression, which by comparison is 1000x better than most of the other things I was being tested for.) Basically, various symptoms of insanity ("Sometimes, I hear voices;" "At times, I feel emotionally numb") were listed, and you had to check "Yes" or "No" to see if it applied to you.

One of the first 5 questions on the test was "I am an agent of God." Before the "invisible friend that only I can see" or the "nagging fear that something might go horribly wrong."

This is why I never trust anyone who insists he's on a mission from God. He's either lying in order to control people; or he's one of the reasons that "agent of God" is listed on a test for psychiatric disorders.

DOS. There is a HUGE difference between "I think morality should adapt to the circumstances" and "I don't think anyone should have any moral guidelines at all." Unless you want to bring back slavery and human sacrifice, you are a moral relativist. Times change. People change. The laws should reflect our decreasing degree of barbarism.

Further, liberalism is NOT the blind acceptance of any and all change! It is the acknowledgment that sometimes, under some circumstances, change is necessary for the public good. Your definition of "adultery" probably differs from ours. I define adultery as a married person deliberately breaking his/her wedding vows by cheating on his/her spouse. This is also the legal definition of adultery. Premarital sex =/= adultery.

Also, I have nothing against the 10 commandments, as long as the religious rules in 1-3 (or 1-4, depending on whether you class "graven images" separately from "don't worship other gods) and the unenforceable coveting rule(s) (some split "coveting your neighbor's wife" into a different category than "coveting your neighbor's stuff") don't become part of American laws. You follow your god's commands, and I'll follow my gods' commands.

And we all KNOW these asshats won't, and shouldn't, get elected. However, if their twisted dominionist form of Christianity becomes widespread, they will become a threat.

Like I said, you can stick your head in the sand and pretend that morality doesn't change but human history disagrees with you. Also, where did I say "if everyone else is doing it, you should do it too"? There are actually 613 commandments in Mosaic law and many of them ARE evil. Not only that but among the first ten only two are actually useful (and both prohibitions existed before the Bible was written), three of them are against the first amendment (the first three) and one (the tenth) would destroy businesses if actually followed.

As I've already said, I don't hate anyone. But certainly, the lessons of Christianity throughout history are not very encouraging, we don't see much restraint and self-control, let alone any morality, except for that of hideous villainy. And the awfulness still continues today. For example, witness the appalling lack of compassion accorded to the victims of child abuse by the hierarchy of the Catholic church. I always will hate atheists, and if nothing else the existance of this website has helped me hate them even more...is it what im called to do as a christian? NO. But im no saint. But, since you had to ask, then, in my case, I mock fundie nastiness and stupidity out a sense of, sometimes outrage, but mostly compassion and, ultimately, humanitarian concerns. Whereas, you mock atheists, so it seems, and as you readily admit, out of hatred. Why so intolerant? We mean mostly good things in our hearts and wish for a bright future for mankind. And before you accuse me of that because I'm on FSTDT, it's not the only website I go on and actually, I'm more often than not talking to people I disagree with. And my friends coem from all diffent backgrounds: some are Christian, some are Republcian, some are pro-lifers, some are vegitarians and we somehow manage to be friends, have fun, and yes, even have serious discussions about serious issues without wanting to kick each other to the curb. And challenging your preconceived notions is a good thing as it helps you grow as a person rather than stagnate under some ideology.

To start with, that's not true. The mockery is for someone saying a darndest thing, usually a fundie.
