Being against homosexuality and homosexual marriage DOES NOT constitute hate.
Denying them basic rights, treating them as inferior, and being generally mean to them is hate.
Beating up and killing Gays or firing them for being gays, DOES constitute hate; i have NEVER advocated or supported that.
No, that's acting on your hate. Hate is an emotion, those are all actions. How do you manage to botch these concepts so frequently?
However voting against gay marriage or voting to ban gay marriage (im from CA and i PROUDLY voted for proposition 8 along with MILLIONS of other californians), DOES NOT contitute hate.
Denying people basic rights is a manifestation of hate.
Mainstream christians dont kill or beat Gays, but thsat doesnt mean they have to accept gay marriage or the normalization as moral, and as citizens of the US they have a right to influence where they live.
You don't have to kill people for it to be considered hate. For example, I hate corrupt CEOs and bankers, that doesn't mean I'm going to Wall Street with a loaded shotgun. And what you just described (not treating them equally) is hate.
The bible is clearly against and calls believers to condemn homosexuality
It also condemns shellfish, mixed fabrics, and crop rotation. You remember what you said about hypocrites who cherry-pick? Why aren't you running a petition to close down seafood restaurants, clothing companies, and modern farms? Why specifically harp on that commandment when it's only one out of 613 of them? And it's not even one of the top ten. You'd think you'd be more against people working on Sunday (or Saturday, depending on your particular sect) than against homosexuals getting rights. In fact, the Mosaic Law says nothing to prohibit gays from getting married, it only prohibits them from having sex and that can (and does) happen even without marriage.
however most modern christians will not follow the more extreme passages either.
I know. And that's good. However, many fundies still follow these passages.
Theres no law that says you cant vote on a political issue based on your religious beliefs, at least not yet.
Agreed, and there shouldn't be one. Doesn't change what it is though.
I agree SOME of the quotes here ARE ridiculous like that one; most others however are ridiculous only to those on the other side of the political spectrum.
Honestly, I haven't seen all that many (actually I can't remember any) that are simply political platforms. It's usually something like "liberals shouldn't get a seat in the discussion" or "the only good liberal is a dead liberal". But if you find some hateful liberal comments (which I know exist) feel free to submit them. Don't just complain, do something about it.
