Jesus sides with The House (if he sided with anyone, there).
Religion & State don’t mix and secular law should not be based on religious edits, just common sense stuff that affects everyone like the prohibition of murder, rape, theft, etc.
A true good Christian should pray for The House and pray against the dark deeds of the GOP….and pray that the Govt. in general does a good job and serves all of WE THE PEOPLE.
What’s with Catholics, lately? They used to be more moderate. Sure; They were always really Conservative and had some wingnutty ideas concerning sex & gender matters but they didn’t come off as raging Holy Rollers who see the Devil in everything (and Catholic Adherents run the political and social gamut…including Lefties and Progs like the very devout and very much a practicing Roman Catholic, Stephen Colbert).
Now; I’m seeing Catholic clergy that sound more like Independent Baptists and embracing a Roman Catholicism that died out centuries ago.
The Roman Catholic Faith is like the religious equivalent of Sybil….On one hand; It can be relatively reasonable, stress the importance of kindness and charity, have a more-or-less “live and let live attitude” (even if they disagree with something and express such) and are perfectly fine with genuine science. However; There are those to balk at charity, molest kids and hold attitudes about sex and gender that are atrocious, refuse to make priestly celibacy “optional”, hoard wealth and get all “Moral Guardian” on things.
I call these variances “Vatican One/V-1” and “Vatican Two/V-2” Catholics. The former are the wingnuts while the latter are the “normies”.
Likewise; I put Islam in the "Mecca/MC” (peaceful and open-minded) and “Medina/MD” (authoritarian and/or violent) categories.
….and of course, the “Eagleland One/E-1” (noble, free, idealistic) and “Eagleland Two/E-2” (ugly, brash, bigoted) versions of the USA from TVTropes.
Maybe the OP belongs to one of those “V-1″ splinter sects.
