I would rather be looked at as stupid or illogical and know that If 'If' were true, I would be alright, rather than to be looked at as 'logical'and intelligent and face a possible eternity in hell. As the illogical flames of an illogical hell burn me for eternity and seperate me from an illogical God whose illogical son died for me and rose again, will I find comfort in the fact that it isn't logical?

A corollary: You aren't just betting on Pascal's wager. You aren't just ALSO betting on all existing denominations and other religions, you ALSO bet on an unknowable number of FUTURE religions, since (emphasis)Any religion was unavailable to those before them. And there are infinitely many religions man will never think of, or CAN never think of, many of them featuring such ideas as hallucinations, dreams, or eternal video games. Perhaps the universe really was created five seconds ago and my memories are a facade. You can bet on the unknowable, and you are almost certainly wrong, but you will never know. Alternatively, in the knowable. Do research, and end up with more than what you started with. If you were wrong, the cards were stacked so you could never have won in the first place.

Moral. Every time you lot wheel out 'Pascal's Wager', or words to that effect, frankly, you lot prove that it's easier being an Atheist; being Logical and Intelligent, and still keeping your social standing in society, rather than looked upon as the Idiot missing from an 11th Century village.

Despite the complexity involved, especially in the thinking involved, Occam's Razor shows that Reality is infinitely more logical than a load of BS in a book of worse-than fairy tales. Two words proves that: Talking Snake.

But you can never escape the possibility of hell, can you? Even if we ignore all the afterlifes that would punish you for being a Christain, there’s no consensus on Christain afterlifes. If the Catholics are right, the Baptists are fucked. If the Baptists are right, the Mormons are fucked. If the Mormons are right, the Catholics are fucked. There’s no single place you can stand that SOMEONE won’t say you’re doomed to Hell.

Yes. Because if your god puts smug jackasses like you into Heaven while i answer his questions honestly and go to Hell, then Hell is where i’d rather be.
