Autism doesn't kill or horribly disfigure your child, unlike the host of diseases vacines are proven to prevent.
I thunk the figure people are quoting now days is there have been over 2000 studies finding no link between autism and vacines.
As said above, who is taking the risk? I saw a heartbreaking article once of a child whose parents refused to vacinate her and got polio (or something) and and to get limbs amputated or a wheelchair or something. The child grown up now spends time campaigning for vacines and urging parents to get their kids immunised.
You're not the one taking the risk; she is. Adults ought to be free to refuse vaccines if they want to, but children ought to be protected against superstition and prejudices as much as possible, even from their own parents.
I'd guess that nothing is as thoroughly researched as whether vaccines are linked to autism. Not one single shred of a link has been found.
Links HAVE been found to smoking while pregnant, pollution in the near area, etc. Are you ready to move away from cities and prohibit smoking?
And the only example of that happening are in RW media and are not supported.
Know why this shit stays alive? Besides fear mongers making truly filthy lucre off of it?
Because you're vaccinated for some things before you're five and many more before ten, autism is most often diagnosed after that. They're taking advantage of low info people.
Autism isn't fatal, you're just a bigot.
@#2069799: Nope. Fuck that. I'm sick of this idea that parents can fuck their kids up however the hell they want, and nothing can be done about it because of "parents' rights." Why should they be able to put tbe public health at risk?
You're not willing to risk autism so you'll err on the side of deadly diseases instead? Were you born this stupid or did something happen to you?
@#2069799:
A mistake we should rectify right along with the exception for religious parents who forgo getting medicine for their children in favor of folding their hands & wishing really, really hard.

I agree Shepherd Solus. Hence why I did say it was unbelievably stupid and they could only blame themselves for their child getting sick. Or worse. And in latter case I think they should at the very least be charged with negligence.

Not that I disagree, for the most part I agree. I choose to be vaccinated for myself and others. My point was while it is their right, it is not the right thing to do and is extremely stupid and irresponsible of them.
Confused?
