A pro-Palestinian activist who carried out an acid attack against an Israeli-owned stall in Scotland has been sentenced to a year in jail.

Scott Harrison threw the noxious liquid at a woman who was manning a stall in Glasgow owned by the Israeli cosmetics firm Kedem, which activists from the anti-Israel BDS movement have been targeting in a boycott campaign.

His lawyers are filing an appeal against the 12-month sentence for assault to injury, which was handed down by a Scottish court earlier this week. He is currently being held in custody pending the results of his appeal.

Harrison's 18-year-old victim, Greek-born Iona Georgianna, told the Scottish Sun shortly after the attack on October 25, 2014, how she felt her face "melting."

"I was working and then I felt liquid on my head," she said, describing the terrifying attack. "It started to burn. It felt like my face was melting. I was screaming. I couldn't feel my lips and my vision was blurred for two or three minutes."

A quick-thinking colleague poured five liters of water on her head, saving her from the worst effects of the mystery liquid.

Water is actually the best way to treat acid burns, but you have to use a lot of water to dilute the acid quickly; note that it took 5 liters here to save this girl. Water and acid actually react violently with each other. A student at my old high school had to mix an acid-water solution for art class, and got the formula mixed up (she put water in acid, instead of acid in water) and nearly went blind when the whole thing exploded in her face.

With the right common chemicals and a little education, you can make acid in a bathtub. Visit any grocery store, photography store, or hardware store, and you can find the ingredients.

In determining whether or not an ideology is responsible for an act committed by a follower, you have to verify whether that ideology promotes in its tenets, either directly or indirectly, the act.

So far I see no evidence that NeoMatrix is significantly wrong on his points. Extreme misogyny (as in real misogyny, not the phony "porn is sexist cause I'm offended" BS) and hostility towards non-believers is part of Islam as much as hatred of the rich and private property is part of communism. Read Surah 4 read Surah 9. Then come back and tell me with a straight face that Islam doesn't make people hostile to women and non-believers when taken seriousy.

90% of ideologies have a history in sexism and dehumanizing women. It's nothing new. Sexists will act on the sexist ideology, and the non-sexists will disregard it, and rightfully so, as relics of the past.

Muslim women are already standing up for their freedom and this is a good thing. The people who insist that they should give their religion up as well aren't really either feminists or egalitarians, they're just selfish. It's their choice if they give it up or not and that's how it should be.

NeoMatrix is wrong because he uses bigoted logic to justify his sweeping bigotry, and excludes the majority of Muslims and Christians as if they were statistical outliers. He relies on the logical fallacies of confirmation bias and sampling bias to support his cause. In short, he's an anti-intellectual bigot with a propensity for believing that he's an intellectual just because he happens to be an atheist.

On a serious note, the reason why I strongly suspect he's a Muslim is because this fits the MO of a typical Islamic supremacist attack.

Did he attack with brutality? Yes. Quran says to be merciful to Muslims but ruthless against non-believers (especially those perceived to be apostates, in fact the hadiths explicitly say to kill them). It's a very divisive ideology.
Did he attack people barely related to his supposed "grievances"? Yes. This is typical of Islamic group think where if Muslims have a problem with group X and you're part of X, you're automatically the enemy, even if you weren't involved in anything.
Did he attack Jews? Yes. Lately we have gotten used to Islamic supremacists attacking Jewish businesses in Europe for the actions of Israel (so they claim anyway).

While the anti-Israel BDS left-wing activists are scum, they're rarely that level of scum. Usually they're harmless hipster morons deluded enough to think they're fighting the good fight or whatever for boycotting Israeli products (One wonders why they don't equally boycott products of countries with a far worse record than Israel, and there's no shortage of such countries, Israel is a pretty humane country by comparison). They don't matter, they're just useful idiots, just like the useful idiots who supported the Soviet Union. Very few of these losers ever have the balls to get physical. Last time a left-wing activist killed someone (Pim Fortuyn) for being perceived as an enemy of Islam was many MANY years ago.

His name is not definitive proof of anything since people can convert and we know of at least a few cases where white Europeans have converted to Islam and became devout to the extreme. Maybe it's your problem that you look at this as a race issue rather than an ideological one.
