I'd be remiss not to mention the cult of liberalism. Liberals fit right in with groups that have a "strong devotion or interest in a particular person, idea or thing without religious associations [but not always], or the people holding such an interest."

Ever notice how your liberal friends refuse to look at both sides an issue? An area of thought where this approach prevails is global warming (a subject for another column). The eco-crowd is brainwashed to believe that the evidence for global warming is compelling and that scientists on their side are the best and the brightest...blah blah blah. And of course scientists who deny that global warming is manmade are charged with being utter morons. When you try to present the other side of the issue, which is equally compelling, they simply plug their ears.

Liberals continually carp about how people of faith are narrow-minded unenlightened nuckle draggers, yet they themselves walk in lock step behind their own spiritual gurus and pay homage to radical activists. And by the way, some of these radicals are our congressional representatives! These people are so focused on their leftist social agenda that they really don't give a rip what the voters want! One example is Proposition 8 in California.

Everything seems to piss conservatives off. And they react by documenting and cataloging their disgust. The result is what we will call the plen-T-plaint, a curious amassing of petty, unrelated beefs with the world. again, for the billionth time, here is no "liberal" agenda. you seem to use the word liberal to describe ANYONE who disagrees with you. second, the reason that people don't give credence to any "scientist" who denies global warming is manmade or doesnt exist is because there is no "compelling" evidence to the contrary. in fact, the debate over whether or not climate change is occuring is over with as far as the legitamite scientific community is concerned. i'm sorry, you will just have to come to grips with the fact that there are people who do not think like you. there are people who are trying to fix this planet and make it a better place for our children to live in.

Firstly, there are studies that show evidence of climate change. Second, what do you lose by shifting your behavior? Seriously. You folks are so quick to crank out Pashal's Wager, why not apply it here? Where is the goddamn harm in actually caring for the planet, rather than raping it for all it's worth?

Not necessarily. They're given equal time under the sun. They just haven't been able to bring enough evidence to the table to prove that it's not manmade.

No, we just feel that human rights are universal, and the rights that one group enjoys should be permitted to the rest.

And by the way, some of these radicals are our congressional representatives! These people are so focused on their leftist social agenda that they really don't give a rip what the voters want!
Because when the voters are talking about stripping a minority of their rights, then it's tyranny of the majority. That is unconstitutional.

One example is Proposition 8 in California.
Yes it is. Bigots managed to spew fear and loathing enough to pass a blatantly unconstitutional bill, with complete disregard for the people it would affect. I guess if it's not you that gets hurt by it, it doesn't matter.

Unfortunately, you'll have to keep on dreaming, for that happens to be one of the very few things the conservatives believe about the United States that's actually accurate.

(FYI, I've been a libertarian all my life, only slightly left of center, despite learning what a libertarian is only at the age of 15. You couldn't get me to vote for either half of the American political duopoly unless you threatened my loved ones with a fate worse than death; even then, I still wouldn't truly support the one for whom I'd have voted.)
