Blaming the war on slavery was the way the northern court historians used morality to cover up Lincoln’s naked aggression and the war crimes of his generals. Demonizing the enemy with moral language works for the victor. And it is still ongoing. We see in the destruction of statues the determination to shove remaining symbols of the Confederacy down the Memory Hole.

Well as the saying goes, "The winners of war write history."
Speaking of history, there are things called history books. You really think liberals are going to re-write American History from the years 1861-1865 to something radically different from what is already understood?

From the cornerstone speach by Alexander Stephens, Vice- President of the Confederate States of America:
Our new government is founded upon exactly the opposite idea (discussing equality); its foundations are laid, its corner- stone rests upon the great truth, that the negro is not equal to the white man; that slavery subordination to the superior race is his natural and normal condition
Yes, why would anybody think your war was about slavery?
Sedition was and is still perfectly illegal. The late Supreme Court Associate Justice Antonin Scalia once stated in a letter that,"If there was any constitutional issue resolved by the Civil War, it is that there is no right to secede". I'm sure that will upset some of his southern fans.
To those pointing out official statements from confederacy Governors and statemen of the time proclaiming their support of slavery,,,
These shits pretend they don't exist, Truly deluded losers.
“Blaming the war on slavery was the way the northern court historians used morality to cover up Lincoln’s naked aggression and the war crimes of his generals.”
Of course, the Cornerstone Speech made by Jefferson Davis’ VP bragged about them being the side that knew the ‘proper use of the Negro,’ and that was slavery, and that was the whole point of the war, that’s not indicative of anything.
“We see in the destruction of statues the determination to shove remaining symbols of the Confederacy down the Memory Hole.”
There are no statues to Benedict Arnold but his name remains a synonym for treason that every schoolkid knows, no?
There are no statues to Hitler, but no one replies to his name with ‘Who was that?’
Very few nations that lose a war build statues to the losers, esp. if they betrayed an oath of allegiance to fight.
We named ships, streets, bases, weapon systems after those fuckers.
Tearing down their statues is not erasing history, it’s just not revering those individuals.
Confused?
