What. The. Heck. You did NOT just smear my favorite Disney movie of all time (and I love the musical, too)!

The whole point of the story is tolerance for those who are different and who don't look like you. "Beauty is skin deep." "Don't judge a book by its cover." Any of those proverbs familiar to you? The Beast was a human prince, you moron, kept captive in the disguise of a beast. A humanoid beast, may I add. Belle fell in love with him because he changed his personality for the better, started to act like a gentleman towards her, and improved his behavior, not because she fancied getting it on with an animal. He, in turn, fell in love with her because of her kindness and intelligence. I bet you'd rather her be with Gaston, the chauvinistic, cowardly oaf who fancied making her his slave - er, wife. That's probably the reason why you're so upset, because Belle fell in love with Adam, a kind and respectable person who looked like a monster instead of Gaston, a mean, despicable person who WAS a monster. All the rest of your slanderous remarks are just that - slanderous remarks.

I'm afraid to know whether or not this whackjob has an opinion as to the 1987-90 CBS TV series of B&tB, in which -- decidedly UNLIKE the traditional interpretation on which the Disney movie is based -- Vincent DID NOT have the option of *poof* magic spell is undone and he's a "normal" person.

Because, obviously, Vincent & Catherine had to 'do it' at least once, Catherine got pregnant with and gave birth to Baby Jacob!

Andohyeah ... the worst villain Vincent & Catherine ever encountered? The one who kidnapped Catherine and Baby Jacob (who will be 19 this September, whattaway to never forget your birthday) and killed Catherine? And caused all kinds of chaos until Vincent and Diana Bennett tracked him down, killed him and rescued Baby Jacob?

Yeah, justincase you needed the refresher.

His name was GABRIEL!

Not to even mention the Halloween-themed eppy of Gargoyles, in which NOT ONLY did Elisa dress up as Belle and dance with Goliath at the block party, but the Eye of Odin talisman turned Fox Renard into *Were*-Fox Renard. Yeah, Xanatos's idea of an engagement gift.

There was one scene in one ep where Elisa kissed Goliath, just as the sun was coming up. You'd have had to be pretty stupid not to catch the subtext between the two of them. (Andohyeah, Lexington is GHEY!)

Remember Xanatos's first name? David, wasn't it? And he was the (human) bad guy, while Goliath, though a creature of another species, was the good guy. HA!

"Thanatos" -- and I have looked this up -- was a minor Greek diety of Death and Mortality. David *Xanatos* is Greek. (Wasn't it Baxter who first said to Eve Dallas that coincidences are hooey?)

Not to even mention the who Demona/Angela thing.

Pretty much. Even if they were to, erm, do something, the Prince/Beast could pretty obviously consent. He was still human, on the inside, which was the entire f'ing point of the story.

But seriously, the story is all about true love and not judging people on appearances. The 1991 Disney version adds a pretty obvious AIDS metaphor, as well.

To be honest, I think the movie would have been better if he didn't turn back into a handsome prince at the end. Not only because having Belle be "rewarded" with a handsome prince sort of goes against the "physical beauty doesn't matter" theme, but because the mulleted prince at the end is really the only thing that dates the film. :-P

Literary history not exactly one of your strong points eh, Rob? Oh yeah, I forgot - you were probably homeschooled; don't want those nasty FACTS infecting your precious fundy mindset.

Facts, like the one above, completely destroys your claim here. Particularly the fact that, decades before Disney's stage musical, or the animated film it's based on, there was the 1946 adaptation "La Belle et la Bête", directed by Jean Cocteau.

But then, what about the fairytale about the talking snake who persuaded a woman grown from a rib taken from a man made from dirt to eat the fruit of a magical tree? And by them doing so, they were banished from the land by a big unseen man in the sky. Sounds like something by the Brothers Grimm? Nope, it's from the book that is the basis of your very beliefs: The Bible.

'The Pot Calling The Kettle Black' sounds like a fairytale, eh? Only this time it's not. It's about a man called Robert T. Lee, who went around condemning other things and people. Yet, he had no justification, nor the right to - because he was guilty of the same things himself. And people laughed at him for being such a foolish man.
