"Bacon is proof that we are a Christian nation"
I set off a bit of a firestorm over the weekend by tweeting out a simple message, that the fact we openly serve and sell bacon in America is further evidence, nay, proof, that we are a Christian nation by history, heritage and values.

"Shellfish is proof that we are not Christian nation"
I set off a bit of a firestorm over the weekend by tweeting out a simple message, that the fact we openly serve and sell shellfish in America is further evidence, nay, proof, that we are not a Christian nation by history, heritage and values.
There fixed it for you
http://sheikyermami.com/ahmadiyya-sect-in-germany-eating-pork-makes-you-homosexual/comment-page-1/
In a youth magazine of the Ahmadiyya community, which wants to build a mosque under protests of adjacents resident in Heinersdorf, the suspicion is expressed that there is a connection between Homosexuallity and the consumption of Pork. In the youth journal of the Jamaat, the youth magazine of the education department, edition no. 26, it means: “Humans are, what they eat; Also this Aphorism can be referred to the effects of pig meat consumption to the human moral behavior, because a shameless animal like the pig coins/shapes or supports the development of certain behaviors of the consumer (
) Our loved fourth Khalifa, Hazrat Mirza Tahir Ahmad (
) expressed in that context that he sees the increasing tendency to Homosexuality with pig meat consumption in our society and that there is a connection.”
Only Christians are allowed to eat bacon? Listen, I can understand ignoring most of the rules in your holey book. There's a lot of them and they're impossible to follow in modern life. But it's quite disingenuous to claim that your book not only allows it but that ONLY you can do it. It's like a doctor claiming that Hippocratic Oath states "Only doctors are allowed to cause people harm.".
If Bryan Fischer is right, then according to consumption figures, China is five times more Christian by history, heritage, and values than America.
But the bible prohibits eating bacon or any other meat from the pig, because they're "unclean." The fact that we openly sell and consume bacon and shellfish in this country is just testament to the fact that most Christians have never read the holy book they claim to base their lives upon, and the ones who have read it find various ways to explain away the prohibitions on pork and shellfish.

Uh... what?
No, seriously, Ibuki has no idea what kind of logic Bryan-chan's trying to use here. Whatever it is, though, she's pretty sure he's using it wrong.

Wait... Ibuki just remembered something! Leviticus says that christians aren't allowed to eat pork in the first place! You'd think that Bryan-chan would know that, since he and his group constantly point to that other part of Leviticus whenever they try to support discrimination against gay people.
Looks like Bryan-chan only cares what the Bible has to say when he can use it to suit his own agenda, huh?
They openly serve and sell bacon in secular Sweden.
They spent 70 odd years openly selling and serving bacon in the atheist Soviet Union.
Bacon predates christianity by hundreds, if not thousands, of years.
It was openly sold in the markets and lunchcounters of Rome... just across the Aventine from the temple of Juno.
It was carried in the packs of Thracian hopilites who worshiped Zeus and Hera.
Celts offered it to their gods.
Try again Fishhead
If bacon comes from pigs, why are there still pigs?
Checkmate, atheists. Praise Yawohl, the one true gawd.
@ Ibuki Mioda and others:
Ham (no, not Ken) is a traditional Christmas dish because the a-holes in feudal Europe used to offer it up to separate Jews from Christians. "Have some ham.... Why not?"
Somehow, Bryan I-bit-a-thermometer-as-a-baby Fischer extrapolates bacon to mean we're not a Jewish or Islamic nation. All I can say to that is, "Did someone order a large ham ?
True Historical Fact: During the Constitutional Convention in 1787 there was a serious proposal that we name our new nation the United States of Bacon. Those who felt that Jews and Muslims might be offended counter-proposed the United States of Hamburger. When the United States of Peanut Butter was suggested, everyone threw up his hands and they all repaired to the nearest tavern.

A firestorm? Really? A firestorm set off by the 23 people who read your tweets?
Yeah, I could feel the internet shaking.
You know. At this point I've reached the point where Bryan Fischer claims something and my reaction to hearing Bryan Fischer says X is 'why the fuck not'. The man has no integrity, no shame and no loyalty to truth. So why the fuck not make a claim that clearly hasn't had half a second's thought put into it, he doesn't care its retarded and doesn't feel admonished when called on his stupidity.
Okay, I know for a fact Fischer is sincere in his ramblings. As in, he genuinely believes all the shit he excretes from his mouth. But stuff like this...I'm convinced the old man is in the early stages of dementia. I think he sincerely thinks his delusions are real, but I don't think the man is playing with a full deck.
Also, like everybody else said, the Babble says pig is off-limits.
Or you're a secular nation that doesn't care about religious dietary rules.
The fact that you openly serve and sell cheeseburgers in America is further evidence, nay, proof, that you are NOT a Jewish nation by history, heritage and values. So, no more of the "Judeo-Christian values", OK?
Does...
Does he think that when people say this isn't a christian nation, they are asserting that it is a muslim nation? That those are the only two possibilities?
That's the only way I can make sense of this comment.
And that is idiotic.
"The fact that we openly sell Qua'rans in America is further evidence, nay, proof, that we are a Muslim nation by history, heritage, and values."
THAT'S HOW DUMB YOU SOUND.
What Doubting Thomas said.
There is no out for Christians on the Pork ban (and other 'sins') in the Bible. In fact preachers of all denominations avoid this topic at the pulpit and rarely even in pamphlets.
Why? Because there's only one good answer for why Christians eat pork despite the Old Testament ban. Because we ate pork before Christianity or Judaism or these dietary laws were established ONLY IN THOSE CULTURES being invented.
Something, not a religion, made pork taboo in that part of the world years before the Torah. This something (disease, inability to keep it fresh, properly cooked until fully consumed) didn't effect European cultures as much or more to the point, like solstice celebrations, Christianity couldn't control it that much.
Bacon is proof of bacon. That bacon tastes good, very good, especially with Maple syrup.
But it being proof we are a Christian nation? How?
"Bacon is proof that we are a Christian nation"
Well, it does establish that we’re not Observant, but it doesn’t even prove we’re not Jewish.
“I set off a bit of a firestorm over the weekend by tweeting out a simple message, that the fact we openly serve and sell bacon in America is further evidence,”
Never mind the Treaty of Tripoli, we’ve got BACON!
“nay, proof,”
Who talks like this?
“that we are a Christian nation by history, heritage and values.”
So, if our heritage is Christain, and our heritage is slavery, are we still Christain after emancipation?
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
