Well, as a person who is a man, I guess I KINDA do? I’m a big fan of pro wrestling, so I enjoy choreographed violence. And I’m a sports fan, and yeah, the violence of full-contact sports is definitely part of that. But I think plenty of women enjoy watching wrestling and sports for the same reason.
And for what it’s worth, in real life, I am like the least confrontational or even violent person you’ll ever meet, LOL
I’m a man. Cisgendered, heterosexual, and high-testosterone even. I’m also very averse to violence and confrontations IRL. Even in RPG Video Games I almost always prefer to take the diplomatic route over direct violence whenever possible, and tend to put my level points into “persuasion” or “charisma” or whatever you want to call it.
Hell, I’ve tried my hand at writing fanfics, and I always find myself having trouble justifying the conflicts in my stories. Even if I like watching a good ol’ battle sequence on HD TV screens, I just have difficulty writing senseless violence…
Still if diplomacy fails and I have a good reason to stand up for my side, then I am able to enter a confrontation, so don’t mistake my pacifism for weakness. After all, I do believe in “speak softly and carry a big stick”.
Some men do love violence. So do some women. But definitely not all. Somehow I’m guessing OOP would be just fine with violence if it were a woman being violent toward men

Yeah, I happen to love action movies and video games that involve fighting. I abhor real life violence though.

Right on. Maybe not exactly the same kinda thing, but there’s a few BDSM-themed indie games I’ve played (because I’m totally into that kinda shit lol) where you can choose to be on the “light route” or the “dark route” or words to that effect. Like basically the “light route” is where you’re actually nice to your girls, and the “dark route” is uh…totally not that. I always played the “dark route” at least once, just to see some scenes you couldn’t see otherwise, but I always preferred the light route for sure.

I believe that empathy is such a human trait that it can appear invisible to us, the way fish don't notice water. Humans are so deeply empathetic as a species that we've classified a lack of empathy as pathological. So men (and women) enjoy pretend violence like pro wrestling or action movies because it's exciting, but not actual violence, not broken bones and blood.
Male violence is a problem, certainly, but pretending that all men are rabid pitbulls just makes addressing the problem more difficult.
(And just for the record, women can be violent, too, and I don't blame pitbull dogs for their reputation.)
